Lorraine announced her operation and said to fans: ‘I just wanted to let you know that I have a small procedure today.
‘I don’t feel so good for a while, so I had some scans and tests, and I have to take out my ovaries and my tubes.
“It’s purely preventive. It will be Surgery at Keyhole, which is incredible, I am very well cared for, and I clearly see you really fast, and I am going well. ‘
She added to the caption: “Getting keyhole operation – all preventively – feel good luck that I am treated so well – thanks Dr Raafat and all the staff!”
The procedure for removing the ovaries and fallopian tubes is known as a laparoscopic bilateral salpingo-runectomy and is usually done preventively to remove the risk of developing ovarian cancer.
According to the NHS, it is suggested that you remain two to four weeks after the operation of work, which means that Lorraine may have to take a break from presenting her show during the day.
