Lorraine Kelly’s beauty secrets as a timeless star celebrates 40 years on TV
LORRAINE Kelly has celebrated an impressive 40 years on television – and still looks as radiant as the day her career began.
The banking queen, 64, was remembered on her ITV show today with special appearances from celebrity friends and guests, and a look back at the highlights of her career.
Television favorite Lorraine started her path in journalism at a regional newspaper, the East Kilbride News, turning down a university place to study English and Russian to join the local editorial team.
She later joined BBC Scotland as a researcher in 1983, where she got a taste for broadcasting.
In 1984 she moved to TV-am as an on-screen reporter for Scottish News.
And in 1990 she began her presenting career on Good Morning Britain, before landing her own show Lorraine in 2010.
The Scottish presenter always looks fresh and radiant during her daytime talk show.
And she has a few beauty secrets when it comes to her ageless look, none of which involve Botox or invasive treatments.
In her 2019 book Shine, she said: ‘Our culture values youth above all else, but people don’t take enough time to think about the benefits of growing older.
“I feel happier in my own skin and am more willing to relax a little and be kinder to myself. I don’t understand why we find it so easy to show kindness to others but not to ourselves.
“Getting older doesn’t have to be scary. Forget a Chanel handbag: the best accessory a woman can have is inner confidence, which radiates above all else.
“I know girls who can walk into a room and all eyes are on them.
‘They may not be the most traditionally beautiful women out there, but they will have a unique quality – such as the ability to make people laugh – that makes them so attractive.
“Women are having surgery younger and younger. A 19-year-old doesn’t need Botox. So many women have ruined their faces with fillers.
“I think I look good the way I am and I will never go under the knife. I love my laugh lines (a much nicer way of saying wrinkles).
“I hate that women make themselves miserable every time they look in the mirror. Your wrinkles tell your story.
“It’s an individual choice whether or not we want to have work done, but I wish we could all be a little more accepting of ourselves and the aging process. Because it’s going to happen whether we like it or not.
“Treatments that provide results beyond the capabilities of skin care are becoming increasingly popular. I’m not a fan of Botox or fillers because I think they age a lot.
“Take good care of your skin and it will pay off in the long run.”
Lorraine says she exfoliates and does a mini facial at home every week, and has a professional facial once a month – something she’s stuck to since she was 16.
She also swears by a collagen wave, a non-invasive facial that accelerates collagen production at the deepest levels using radiofrequency and ultrasound to plump, contour, and tighten skin.
The proud grandmother also undergoes Caci treatments – a computer-aided cosmetology tool – which is a non-surgical facelift.
This includes the regeneration of skin tissues and helps restore collagen, improving the appearance of skin texture.
And Lorraine even picked up a skincare hack from her daughter Rosie.
Speak with Liz Earleshe said: “Cleaning is something I also learned from my daughter.
“She double cleanses, and she’s evangelical about it! I use a balm and a washcloth and I love that you can wash it with the washcloth and reuse it.”
Despite spending a lot of time in her home country of Scotland, the TV legend says she doesn’t go a day without SPF on her face either.
“I use one every day, no matter what time of year,” she says.
“I always thought that in Britain we don’t need to use sunscreen, but actually we need to make sure we protect our skin.”
