- No financial data has been taken
- Luxury fashion brands are nowadays actively focused
Cyber criminals broke in the Korean subsidiary of luxury brand Louis Vuitton and stable sensitive files, the company has confirmed.
“We regret to inform that an unauthorized third party had temporary access to our system that resulted in the leak of some customer information,” the company reportedly said in a statement published on its local website.
The company reported government agencies and moved to secure its infrastructure and data, which took some information in the infringement, but financial files were not included.
Scattered Spider’s fingerprints
Other details of the attack are scarce – we do not know when the attack happened, how the unwavering people violate, or what they wanted to achieve. We also do not know whether they demanded ransom in exchange for the stolen files, or whether an encryptor has been implemented.
However, we do see a pattern in cyber criminals who focus on large luxury brands. Early June 2025, French luxury brand Cartier Customers warned that some of their sensitive personal information was stolen in a data breach.
Two weeks earlier, mid -May 2025, Dior experienced the same, after finding an unauthorized third party that has access to some of the data that owns Dior Fashion and Accessories customers. Around the same time, Victoria’s Secret, another large fashion brand, submitted a new form to the American SEC that confirmed recovery systems after an infringement.
Although in most cases not confirmed, there were some reports that all attribute to distributed spin – a loosely bound organization of cyber criminals Known for it at any time focused on specific industries. The FBI recently warned about scattered spider shift focus for American retailers. Although most of these are not American companies, they are large retail brands and as such they are probably goals for spread spider.
