Love triangle drama erupts between wealthy influencer girls as fans slam the man at the center of their feud: ‘Imagine fighting over… him’
A feud has erupted between wealthy New York City influencers over a man they were both dating, and who their fans have been slamming.
The drama between Halley Kate McGookin, 24, and Sophia LaCorte, 23, began in December 2023, when LaCorte was caught on a date with McGookin’s ex-boyfriend, Reed Williams.
McGookin later claimed that LaCorte — who she said was once a “friend” — went through her Instagram follower list and sent Williams a direct message.
Things never worked out between LaCorte and Williams, and McGookin confirmed in a video in March that she and Williams have rekindled their relationship.
But TikTok users say Williams isn’t worth all the drama — with one fan go to reddit to share Williams’ AI-generated profile photo on LinkedIn, writing, “Imagine you’re fighting over a guy and it’s literally him.”

Many fans have said that boyfriend, Reed Williams, is not worth fighting over
“Wait, but he actually looks alive in this photo,” one Redditor commented on the photo of Williams, which another said was “100 percent intact.” [be] ‘AI-generated.’
A third wrote that they ‘would understand if he looked like this, but he doesn’t.’
The comments come as more attention is being paid to the drama between the two influencers, despite Williams and McGookin’s renewed relationship.
The two first got together in early 2023 after meeting on Hinge, the independent reports.
They dated for nine months before McGookin revealed on her TikTok that they had broken up.
On November 13, McGookin shared a video of herself crying, writing in the caption that “not even three weeks after she dumped me out of nowhere,” Williams had gone on a date with “someone I considered a friend and [was] with the night before, buy shots.’
“Her bag is literally in my closet because we dropped it at my apartment before we went to the bar together,” she claimed in the now-deleted, screenshotted video shared on Reddit.
She also alleged that LaCorte “went through my followers and DM’d him on Instagram while he was standing next to me” at an influencer event.

In another deleted TikTok video, McGookin said she didn’t plan on talking about the drama, but people started making videos about LaCorte’s date with Williams.
She also said she “tried to deal with it offline” by texting Sophia “several times” but never got a response.
McGookin then went into more detail about the drama in a December episode from her Delusional Diaries podcast.
“This really hurts me because I don’t want to hurt him by making this public,” she said at the time.
“It was shocking, just in general, that he went on a date. When we broke up, he told me he didn’t think I was the love of his life.
But he also [said]… “I have to be single now [and[ I have a lot I need to do on my own.'”
By January, LaCorte decided to respond to the allegations, as she said some of McGookin’s fans started harassing her.

She claimed on her podcast Out of Touch that she was “never friends” with McGookin and that she “doesn’t know who the girl is.”
LaCorte pointed out that there are no photos of them together on any of their social media pages. He stressed, “I would never stab any of my friends in the back.
“I would never harass a woman online and I would never talk bad about another woman,” she said. “I defend other women.”
From that point on, the love triangle seemed to be over, and in a TikTok video on March 31, McGookin confirmed that she and Williams had rekindled their relationship, as they were spotted kissing at a Drake concert.
“We’re doing great and I’m happier than ever,” she told her 1.3 million TikTok followers.
She explained that she had to “take some time to think about it and figure out my feelings and the situation before posting it online.
“This was my first real relationship and I was so excited to have a boyfriend and share that with you guys. Of course, that meant I had to tell you guys when we broke up, which sucked.
“I’m 23 and I’m trying to live my life the best I can,” she continued, announcing that she and Williams “have been back together for a while now.”

“I’m not going to give away all the details, but in the time we were apart, we both learned and learned A LOT,” McGookin claimed.
Still, she seemed to attack her rival, the influencer, vigorously: ‘I want to make it clear once and for all that absolutely nothing has changed in the situation surrounding the breakup.’
McGookin then asked her followers to “respect my decision and know that I’m doing what’s best for me.”
Since then, McGookin has posted more photos of her and Williams together, and even featured him on a now-deleted episode of her podcast.
In the months since, McGookin has begun posting photos of her and Williams together again — and she even had him appear on a now-deleted episode of her podcast
In fragments of the podcast posted on TikTok This week, Williams was asked why he decided to rejoin McGookin.
He paused for a moment before speaking.
“When we first started dating, it happened really fast. We met and started dating right away,” Williams finally said in a monotone voice.
‘I had just moved to the city, so I was still figuring out who I wanted to be after college.
‘When things started to get really serious between us, I had to take a step back and do my own thing.
“I learned a lot about myself during that time,” he insisted. “I just realized that I’m a better person when I’m with her and she makes me happier than anyone else, so I didn’t want to lose that.”
Many people online criticized Williams for his late response in the video, which has been viewed nearly 12 million times since it was first posted on August 18.
“This is an extremely difficult ordeal,” one person wrote.
“She deserves so much more,” said another, while a third commented: “Oh so he REALLY is the worst.”
LaCorte posted her own response in the form of a Get Ready With Me-style video, in which she spoke about “the time a girl I met maybe three times canceled on me and trashed me on the internet.”
Just a few days later, LaCorte appeared to post her own response in the form of a Get Ready With Me-style video.
In it she talked about ‘the time a girl I had met maybe three times broke off my relationship and trashed me on the internet.’
She described Williams as “really sweet” and “super talkative” and admitted that the morning after their date she got a text from McGookin — who had to introduce himself because LaCorte didn’t have her number — but didn’t respond.
“I’ve never had a one-on-one conversation with her,” LaCorte explained. “I’ve met her maybe three times through work.”
In a subsequent video, she claimed she would “never DM someone when I was standing next to them” and alleged that Williams “probably planned our date a week before I happened to run into her at a work event.”
LaCorte concluded by noting that they were all single at the time and that she and Williams had gone on “four or five dates” before she realized that he “maybe wasn’t the one for me, and it kept getting worse.”
McGookin responded to the negative comments in a cryptic TikTok video
McGookin then addressed the negative reactions in her own cryptic TikTok video.
“I just want to let you guys know that I’m a real person just trying to do my best in life and I’m trying to be as authentic about it as possible,” she said in a caption over a video of her doing her hair.
‘I go to this app every day to make people laugh. I used to go on it all the time and be so excited to check my comments, but now I dread opening my phone and reading lies, rumors, and hate.
‘And I hate that, because this app has given me everything I have in life. I am so grateful for it, and for all of you!!!’
“But I feel defeated sometimes if I’m honest. I love all of you who are so supportive and I really try to tune out the noise because there are so many amazing people here.
“We just have to rise above it,” she said.
