Shane Lowry Golde out for a historic eagle during the opening round at US Open
The Offaly Ace hit in the shot after a tough start next to Rory Mcilroy and Justin Rose in the ruthless Oakmont.
The third gap in Oakmont has never given an eagle 2 in the open history of US Open today.
Shane Lowry delivered the beautiful highlight halfway through his round – Having for Eagle from 160 meters on the par -4 third hole in Oakmont, his 12th of the day.
The Offaly-Man at that time cooked on six-over-par, after he had made a slow start after his round on the rear nine next to Ryder Cup teammates Rory Mcilroy and Justin Rose.
But the approach of Lowry bounced a few times before he tied in the cup for a walk-off eagle and offers a much needed shock of Momentum in the third major of the season.
It briefly lifted Lowry back to +4 on a cheeky day on the notorious penal pennsylvania -lay -out.
However, the resident of Clara can take some confidence after he completed T2 at this location during the US Open 2016.
World Number 12 Lowry has done well in recent seasons on the more difficult PGA Tour-Tracks courses such as Bay Hill and Muirfield Village Die are considered as tests at a large level.
But he will have to drive because the course plays as good as possible as it is possible – with the circumstances that are expected to be incredibly difficult in the coming days.
Earlier in the day, Lowry did not stop when he threw TV audio equipment after a heavy shot during the first round on Thursday morning.
Lowry, who started his round at the back, nine next to Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose, already fought to stay at +6 when he pulled his t -shirt into the deep rough.
He tried to escape, fluffed his recovery and immediately turned around to express frustration on TV broadcasting equipment in the area.
Sounds could be heard from the greenside microphone when Lowry picked it up before he had seen it on the broadcast.
Elsewhere, Scottie Scheffler goes into the week as a favorite after winning three of his last four starts.
In the meantime, Rory Mcilroy hopes to place his recent driver problems behind him after a horror that shows last week during the RBC Canadian Open from last week on TPC Toronto.
