Loxx Boxx gets even smarter with Gmail notifications and Alexa package tracking

Loxx Boxx offers a parcel delivery box to deter porch pirates, but with a twist: App control and smart monitoring options, so you can get instant updates on your deliveries and manage access remotely. That’s an interesting option for those who don’t have a video doorbell or businesses that need to keep a particularly close eye on valuable deliveries.

The price for all that high-tech theft protection is — well, the price. In addition to the upfront cost when you buy a Boxx (around $300-$350), you’ll also have to pay for a subscription to access app features, which starts at around $4 per month.

Now, Loxx Boxx is sweetening that deal even further with a revamped app and new features, including a free year of service before you have to pay. The app also now integrates with Gmail, which is great if you prefer to receive package notifications in your email instead of on your phone (again, great for businesses).

There’s also new tracking support in the app, which can pull in information from over 1,000 carriers to provide specific package updates. You can see when a package has arrived in town, when it’s on its way for delivery, and the moment the carrier opens the box to drop the package inside. It also now works with Alexa, so Alexa can provide updates as the box is being used, and give you verbal updates on a package’s arrival.

Delivery boxes are a simple yet highly effective defense against waiting porch pirates.

With the new app, Loxx Boxx has some of the most in-depth monitoring on the market, ideal for those willing to spend money to keep a regular eye on important deliveries that could otherwise be stolen. And with a subscription, Loxx Boxx guarantees up to $500 of the cost of every delivered item that is properly packaged but still stolen. The company reports that approximately 119 million parcels will be stolen in 2023. We found that up to $74 billion in delivery value could be at stake.

We’re seeing more and more delivery security boxes being offered as a way to combat parcel theft, though none are as high-tech as the Loxx Boxx offerings. Boxes like these have the potential to become as integral to a smart home as a video doorbell or smart thermostat, which is why we’re keeping a close eye on them.
