Ask the Expert: Lucy Bartholomew, Travel Support Executive at British Airways Holidays on putting customers first, love Disney and Kitchen Sink sundaes

What makes British Airways Holidays unique?

‘I have worked for several travel companies and was drawn to British Airways Holidays by its professionalism and desire to do good. Great service is paramount in everything we do, and our ATOL protection, 24-hour vacation helpline and customer promise all add peace of mind.”

What makes your job special?

‘I love traveling and helping book exotic vacations to a wide variety of destinations around the world. I’m also a proud Disney nerd, so I’m always ready to pass on tips about Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.”

Top tips for relaxing and shopping at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida?

“I love Disney Springs. During the day it is quieter with space to relax and in the evening it is bustling with live entertainment and lots of shops. World of Disney® store is the best one-stop shop for Disney merchandise, while the Marketplace Co-Op is great for more unusual souvenirs – I love the WonderGround Gallery.

Where is the best place to eat there?

“You’re spoiled for choice when it comes to treats. The Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort is incredible. The Kitchen Sink sundaes are so big that you can share one with the whole family.

For a perfect Disney dinner, I like Le Cellier in the Canada Pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase. The steaks and cheddar soup are incredible.

‘If you like cookies, cake and coffee, try Gideon’s Bakehouse, Disney Springs. Lines get long but worth the wait. Every month they have limited edition goodies. I’m still thinking about the Orange Mocha Nitro Cold Brew I had last time!’

Any tips for visitors?

“If you want to see the Magic Kingdom Park fireworks, but are tired of a day of fun, head to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Sit on the beach and enjoy the show from a distance, with music from the park.’

Where is your next vacation?

‘Of course it’s to Walt Disney World Resort! Can’t wait to try the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride at EPCOT. There is always something new at Disney. I’m also exploring the Gulf Coast of Florida.”
