M5, M8 Traffic Now: Sydney grinds to a standstill after a major incident

A major Sydney The highway came to a halt after a truck within a tunnel block that travels to the city.

The incident took place at around 11.30 am on Tuesday when a truck overwhelmed in the eastern lane at the tunnelingang of the M5 -Velweg in Bexley North.

It is understood that the driver left the vehicle after the crashed and the wreck escaped with only slight injuries.

Motorists are warned to allow extra travel time and to expect significant delays, because eastern lanes remain closed if emergency services work to erase the road.

The driveway from Kingsgrove Road to M5 highway also remains closed.

The traffic is heavy and drivers are advised to give extra time for travel.

Citybound motorists are diverted to King Georges Road off-disaster to use D5-Omweg.

Motorists are also encouraged to use the M8 instead.
