Maharashtra assembly polls: Who will be Mahayuti’s CM choice? Amit Shah responds | India News – Times of India
“Currently Eknath Shinde is the chief minister. After the elections, all three alliance partners will decide on the chief minister,” Shah said.
The Home Minister said the Shiv Sena and the NCP parted ways because Uddhav Thackeray prioritized his son over Eknath Shinde while Sharad Pawar prioritized his daughter over Ajit Pawar.
“These parties gave priority to their family members and the parties split. They are blaming the BJP for no reason,” he said.
The ruling alliance, Mahayuti, includes the BJP, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction and Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction.
Shah, who unveiled the BJP’s manifesto today, said all three alliance partners have released their manifestos and a committee of ministers will be constituted after the elections to ensure implementation of the promises made.
Amit Shah said the BJP was against ‘family politics’ and rejected Congress’ allegations that the BJP is trying to undermine the reservations. “It is the Modi government that has made reservations against the OBCs. In fact, we are strengthening the reservations,” he said.
Shah also lashed out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying Gandhi’s attempt to amend the Constitution “has come to light” after the book he was carrying allegedly contained blank pages. “He has now become the butt of a joke,” Shah said.
Responding to opposition criticism of the Mahayuti government’s Ladki Bahin program for women, Shah pointed out that the MVA had made a similar promise but with higher financial support, exposing “their contradictions”. He urged Gandhi to focus on “what is happening in the states ruled by his party” instead of judging BJP’s performance.
Shah further denied MVA’s claims that Maharashtra is lagging behind in terms of investments, noting, “During the MVA rule, Maharashtra stood at the 4th position (in terms of FDI) while the state recorded the highest foreign direct investment.”
