Maharashtra increases maximum gratuity of government employees from Rs 14 lakh to Rs 20 lakh
NAGPUR: Maharashtra’s Mahayuti government has hiked interest rates maximum tip to be paid to its employees up to Rs 20 lakh from Rs 14 lakh, reports Shishir Arya. It has also relaxed standards age-resistant documents for some of the retirees. The increased gratuity applies to both pension and death. Those involved include employees of zilla parishads, those involved in government-recognized and funded educational institutions and non-government colleges affiliated with agricultural universities.
The decision follows demands from representatives of state employee associations. The leaders of the associations had met CM Eknath Shinde last month after which it was decided to increase the tipping limit. The age-related document relaxations apply to retired employees over the age of 80, for whom the pension has been increased by 10%. Instead of just Aadhaar cards, they can present as proof of age a host of other IDs such as birth certificates, voter IDs, passports and certificates issued by bank branch managers and similar documents.
