Westpac Will lower 1500 jobs in the coming months while the bank giant increases his push on digital technology.
It will then be the largest dismissal round of bank in a decade- only a few months after 900 full-time jobs were taught.
Chief Executive Michael Miller has asked managers to consider how they lower their teams by five percent in the coming months, the sources told the Australian Financial Review.
The bank confirmed that dismissals are being considered, but stuck on the final figure.
‘While we continue to invest in extra bankers and customer -oriented roles, other programs and initiatives may need fewer resources, a spokesperson told the publication.
‘This means that we make changes from time to time that can influence some roles and responsibilities. As the skills and possibilities required for banking continue to evolve, our staff will also.

It comes after Westpac has closed many ATMs and branches throughout the country.
The number of bank ownership and the ATMs ownership has fallen by more than half in the last seven years and fell from 19,508 to 8,836 as of 30 June 2024, with Westpac and Commonwealth Bank among the most important players in this reduction.
More come.
