Major heartbreak for Kerala woman who lost entire family in Wayanad landslides – Times of India
NEW DELHI: Shruti, a 24-year-old woman from Kerala, Roadnadhas suffered a series of personal tragedies recently, including the landslide that killed her entire family on July 30.
In the disaster that hit the villages of Chooramalmala and Mundakkai in Meppadi panchayat, her family of nine, including her parents and younger sister, were killed, news agency PTI reported.
Shruti’s suffering grew further on Wednesday when her fiancé Jenson died after being seriously injured in a car accident on September 10. He was treated at Dr. Moopen Medical College.
According to a hospital spokesperson, he died of his injuries at 8:50 p.m.
Jenson, 27, worked for a car wash company and was Shruti’s rock after her family’s tragic death.
The couple had been engaged since June 2 after a ten-year courtship. They had planned to marry in December, but decided to opt for a simple court-registered wedding in September.
The accident occurred when Jenson’s car collided head-on with a private bus. Shruti and other family members of Jenson, who were in the same car, were also injured.
According to doctors, Jenson was taken to hospital in critical condition, with very weak vital signs and heavy bleeding from his nose and brain.
On August 29, Shruti and Jenson visited Puthumala Cemeterywhere some of her relatives are buried.
Jenson had told Shruti, “I promised myself that I would never leave my school friend Shruti’s side.”
Shruti also lost around Rs 400,000 in cash, around 15 gold coins and her newly built house in the landslidesThe disaster killed more than 200 people in the region.
