Major traffic delays on Richmond Road, Berkshire Park, Windsor, Sydney due to major accident
A multi-vehicle crash west of Sydney has caused chaos for commuters during the morning rush hour.
Emergency services were called to Richmond Road in Berkshire Park, a suburb near Penrith, about 55 kilometres west of Sydney’s central business district, at around 6am on Tuesday morning.
Police were told a sedan and a hatchback collided head-on, with an SUV hitting the back of the hatchback. A woman was trapped inside the car as it was crushed.
Paramedics treated the two female drivers at the scene before transferring them to Westmead Hospital. They are in a serious but stable condition.
The male driver of the SUV was not injured in the accident.
Major delays are expected in both northbound and southbound directions. Motorists are urged to avoid the area while emergency services attend.
A section of Richmond Road is currently closed.
Motorists are encouraged to use Llandilo Road, Second Avenue, Eighth Avenue, South Creek Road, White Road, Shane Park Road, Stony Creek Road and St Mary’s Road as alternative routes.
