A pilot of the Air Force accused of killing his wife and organizing her death to look like a lawn mowing is accused of breaking bail.

Robert John Crawford was accused of murder and interfered with a corpse in October 2024, months after his wife was found dead near a ride-on mower west of Brisbane.

The 47-year-old is accused of strangling his wife, Frances Elizabeth Crawford, in a ‘murderous anger’ and then moving her body to organize her death to look like a late night accident.

Mrs. Crawford was found dead at the mower at a rural upper Lockyer building in July 2024.

Crawford received bail in Queensland Supreme Court In May about strict circumstances after almost seven months in custody.

The conditions include a deposit of $ 250,000 and a curfew.

Crawford was accused on Saturday of a violation of bail.

He reportedly entered into a new bail company on 14 August and appears on the case in Toowoomba Magistrates Court.

Crawford had called emergency services around 3.40 hours on July 30, 2024 and told them that he found his wife at the bottom of a retaining wall and a lawn mower had fallen on her.

He told the police that his wife got up at night to bring the lawn mower away from automated water sprayers.

Prosecutors said earlier that Crawford was charged on the basis of ‘inconsistencies’ between his declaration to the police and expert analysis of forensic evidence.

Public Prosecutor Chris Cook said earlier that the forensic report preferred strangulation as the cause of death instead of pressure from the steering wheel of the Ride-on.

During a bail hearing in April, Defense lawyer Saul Holt said that ‘very weak’ interpretations of forensic evidence had been used to accuse his client.

The murder of Crawford will be heard on 8 October at Ipswich Magistrates Court for Commital Proceedings.
