What is Amazon Resale?
Amazon Resale is exactly what it sounds like. If an item purchased on Amazon is returned, refurbished, or damaged in the warehouse, it can no longer be sold as “new.” Amazon pushes these products to the Amazon Resale deals page, where you can find them on sale, at a discount.
On Amazon Resale you will find second-hand, used or still opened items. These items all have a ‘class’ or condition that you can choose. The price of the items depends on the class.
What can you buy at Amazon Resale?
Just about everything.
On the Amazon Resale front page, you can browse deals by category, including computers and tablets, kitchen appliances, DIY tools, pet supplies, video games, unlocked cell phones, and televisions.
And just because items in the Amazon Resale are discounted doesn’t mean they’re not brand name products. You can buy products from brands like Apple, Samsung, Keurig, Black+Decker, Sony, Canon, Panasonic, Nintendo, PlayStation, and Logitech.
Best of all, many of the products you’ll find in Amazon Resale are relatively new. For example, you can buy a brand new Google Pixel 8 Pro at almost 30% off, for $696.91.
What discounts can you get?
It depends on the product, but you can expect price reductions ranging from a few dollars to hundreds of dollars.
Let’s say you’re ready to buy the LG OLED C3 now that the C4 series is out, but you’re still looking for a better deal than what’s on the market right now. Amazon is currently selling the 55-inch version of the TV for $1,396.99, but you can get a small discount by opting for a used, as good as new model.
Or maybe you’re looking at the aging but still great iPad Mini 6. Right now, the base Wi-Fi model gets 24% off at $379.99but Amazon Resale has a used version in good condition for $349.59.

How to Score an Amazon Resale Deal
Suppose you search on Amazon for the Apple Watch Series 9which normally costs $399 and is now on sale for $299.
If you want to check out a potential Amazon Resale deal, you can scroll down past the In shopping cart And Buy Now buttons until you see a gray box with a Sold by Amazon Resale option.
There you will see the discounted price (currently $279.15), the condition of the product, and the expected delivery date.
If there are other Amazon Resale deals, you may see more boxes below them labeled “New & Used,” “Buy Used,” “New & Used Deals,” or “Used,” along with a number indicating how many other used items are available for sale. Scroll through the used items and click In shopping cart to add the item to your shopping cart and make your purchase.
Does it matter which Amazon Resale deal I get?
Yes. When you view all Amazon Resale deals available for a single product, you will see different prices at the top by default, sorted by lowest price (combined with shipping costs).
You probably want the best deal, but it’s also important to check the condition of each item, which we’ll explain in more detail below. The cheaper it is, the more damaged or imperfect the item may be.
If you want a product that is in better condition, you may have to spend a little more.
What do the Amazon Resale Terms mean?
Amazon has five terms, or classes, that are assigned to each item sold through Amazon Resale. Here’s how Amazon defines the product terms:
- Renewed: This is the highest rating an Amazon Resale product can receive. A refurbished item is inspected and tested by Amazon to ensure it functions and looks like new, and it comes with a 90-day warranty for replacements or refunds.
- Used, as new or open box: In perfect condition. Original protective packaging may be missing, but original packaging is in good condition with minor damage. Accessories and instructions are included.
- Used, Very Good: Lightly used with limited signs of wear but otherwise in good condition. Packaging may be damaged and missing accessories, if any, will be noted in the listing.
- Used, Good: Moderate signs of use, with identifying marks or minor cosmetic damage, but should function normally. Packaging may be damaged and item may be missing accessories, such as instruction manuals and assembly tools.
- Used, acceptable: Worn but still fully functional. Major cosmetic defects such as scratches, dents and worn corners as well as packaging issues or missing parts, accessories, instructions and tools.
Whichever option you choose, your item must be in working condition. None of the items sold on Amazon Resale are damaged to the point that they are difficult to use or require repair or service. In all honesty, we have had some luck choosing an “acceptable” item, only to find out that it was in much better condition than expected.
Do I need Amazon Prime to get Amazon Resale discounts?
No. As long as you have an Amazon account, you can take advantage of all Amazon Resale deals. With Amazon Prime, you save on shipping and get your products faster, thanks to 2-day shipping.
Also be sure to check Amazon Resale during the sale
As illustrated above, it makes sense to check out your Amazon Resale options during a major sale. Often, if not every time, used items will be discounted during a major sale day to reflect the sales of the new item. After all, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to pay more for a used item than a new one. This may not be the case for third-party sellers on Amazon, but check out what Resale has to offer during Labor Day or Prime Day when it rolls around to see if you can get an even better price.
