MORE than anything, most Olympic athletes want to win gold, except perhaps Henrik Christiansen, who is crazy about chocolate muffins.

The Team Norway swimmer has made the sticky treats from the Olympic Village go viral, but the company that makes them says he’s just one of thousands who are devouring them.

Last week Christiansen went viral with a TikTok of himself eating a muffin in his roomchocolate on his face.

He is kept posting almost exclusively muffins, including another clip of him eating one himself in the dining room of the Olympic Village.

“I don’t think y’all realize how good this is,” he captioned the clip, which has been viewed 13.9 million times.

He would sometimes walk out four at a time, showing off his bedside table full of these drinks and joking about his distaste for all other parties.

It’s clear that the treat is also popular with other Olympians.

American volleyball player Erik Shoji, British athlete Lina Nielsen and Singaporean swimmer Quah Jing Wen are among the other participants posting muffin shots.

Close-ups show chocolate cake with large chunks of chocolate and a gooey, melted chocolate center.

But if you want to run off with the recipe, you’re out of luck.

Sodexo Live! is the event company that supplied the muffins for the Olympic Village, and they don’t want to give up their secrets.

However, they did give The US Sun some insider information about themselves.

THE SECRET SAUCE

A spokesperson said this particular muffin (a blueberry version is also available for athletes) weighs 130 grams.

It is “presented in a tulip-shaped cup and is perfect for chocolate lovers.”

“It’s filled and covered with dark chocolate, with chunks of dark chocolate and milk chocolate,” they said.

It is available at the main restaurant and at six takeaway locations in the Village.

There is so much for sale, they said, that about 2,000 chocolate muffins are eaten every day.

They expect that 100,000 people will have been helped by the end of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

THE MUFFINMAN

Unfortunately for drooling social media users, these muffins are not available for direct sale to consumers.

But Christiansen did offer an explanation for what makes them so good.

“They are very rich, and I like that,” he said The New York Timesand called them “incredibly delicious” and “creamy”.

“I’m lucky that I can treat myself a lot more than others because I need the calories a lot more,” he added.

Sodexo Live! also supplies other desserts and pastries, including fromage blanc, compotes, flan parisien, tarte au citron, financiers, carrot cakes and macadamia cookies.
