Kay, with her main clinic in Radlett, England, has been working in the beauty industry for over 20 years.

In an interview with The US Sun, she shared makeup tips for a youthful look.

Skipping primer before applying makeup is a “common mistake” that drastically changes your overall look.

“Primer is great for smoothing out skin texture and creating a base for your makeup. This can help reduce movement and foundation seeping into cracks,” says Kay.

“Using a primer will help your makeup last longer, stay fresh and maintain a youthful appearance all day long.”

She claims that applying a primer is a helpful step, especially for combination skin.

The product can help keep makeup in place, so you look well-groomed all day long.

“Depending on your skin type, a matte primer can help control sebum production in the T-zone,” she said.

“A hydrating primer can add moisture to drier areas, creating a smooth base for foundation.”

SEE, CC

Kay revealed that a “heavy foundation” isn’t always the best option for a youthful look.

She recommended exchanging the product for a CC cream.

“CC creams combine skin care and makeup in one, making them very versatile and perfect for when you see the first signs of aging,” she said.

“Unlike heavy foundations, CC creams help to conceal and camouflage signs of aging, such as fine lines, age spots and wrinkles.

Avoid applying foundation as this will make you look dull and will emphasise any imperfections.

“In addition, the product often contains SPF and has hydrating formulas that leave the skin looking fresh and dewy.

“To enhance a youthful appearance, it is important to conceal any imperfections and eliminate dark circles.”

NOT SO HEAVY

Heavy products can make the skin look older because they accentuate imperfections instead of evening them out.

“Light textured products are the answer and avoid applying foundation as this will make you look dull and draw attention to any imperfections,” she said.

Kay previously shared tips for applying eye makeup correctly.

She said not to apply eyeliner under your eyes because it can make your eyes look smaller.

A “lighter, powdery” eyeshadow can be used on the inner lid and darker shades on the outer portion.

She added that false eyelashes should be “avoided at all costs” as they can look too heavy on the face and make you look older.
