Man charged with murder after woman dies five days after allegedly being attacked in a caravan park in Coffs Harbour

A man has been accused of killing his mother after she died from significant injuries caused by an alleged attack.

Zachary Mills, from Coffs Harbor on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, was arrested by Queensland police officers in Park Ridge about 10am on Sunday.

The 30-year-old appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, where NSW Police successfully applied for an extradition warrant.

Mills was extradited to NSW, where police were told Christine Mills, 58, had died at Coffs Harbor Base Hospital about 12.30pm on Monday as a result of her injuries.

It is understood Mrs Mills has significant mobility problems due to a spinal cord injury and previously told police she was ‘scared’ of her son. The era reported.

Mills was charged with murdering DV at Tweed Heads police station.

He appeared at Tweed Heads Local Court on Tuesday, where documents revealed he allegedly seriously injured Ms Mills on October 2.

Police were called to Big 4 Park Beach Holiday Park on Ocean Pde, Coffs Harbor at around 5.25pm ​​that evening and found Ms Mills with facial injuries.

Police were told that a man, believed to be Mills, had left the property before officers arrived.

Mrs Mills was rushed to hospital for treatment but died five days later.

The last AVO she sought against her son was issued in June and banned him from seeing his mother for 12 hours after drinking alcohol or taking drugs.

Mills was also prohibited from stalking, harassing, intimidating, assaulting or threatening Ms. Mills, or damaging her property.

It is understood his father and ex-partner also had AVOs against him.

Mills is further charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to Mrs Mills, and with twice breaching a domestic violence order on September 30 and October 2 in Coffs Harbour.

Documents tendered to Tweed Heads Local Court on Tuesday allege Mills murdered Mrs Mills between 5pm and 5.30pm on October 2, the Daily Telegraph reported.

It is understood police first issued a warrant for Mills’ arrest when he allegedly first breached the domestic violence order on September 30.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Coffs Harbor Local Court on December 10.
