A man accused of murdering his partner who went missing from their farm has been found dead in his prison cell.

Stuart Williamson, 56, was charged with murdering Diane Douglas between December 1 and December 31, 2018, when she would have been 55 or 56 years old.

Mrs Douglas, from Colton, a village west of Norwich, was reported missing by relatives from her £850,000 farm on 21 October last year.

Norfolk Police launched a ‘nobody’ murder investigation after investigations revealed that Ms Douglas had not been seen for a ‘considerable period’.

Police said Mrs Douglas’ remains were found in the yard of a house in Barford Road, Colton, on Nov. 2.

A post-mortem examination by the Department of the Interior determined that the preliminary cause of death was not established due to the state of decomposition, and further investigation was required.

Williamson had been arrested in Wales on October 30 and was later charged with murder.
