Man kills 14-year-old son after argument over cell phone repair
A man killed his 14-year-old son after a dispute over the repair of a mobile phone on November 15 in Bengaluru. The boy was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Lokesh B Jagalasar said there was already tension between the child and his parents over excessive use of mobile phones. The parents were also concerned about his irregular school attendance and his association with a ‘bad group of friends’.
The fatal confrontation was caused by the boy’s persistent requests to have his defective mobile phone repaired. When his parents refused, the situation escalated into a heated argument, which ended in the father’s fatal attack on his son.
“The attack caused the child’s death and it was not a simple attack. Multiple wounds were found on the child’s back and head. The father who attacked the child has been arrested and he is in police custody,” Jagalasar said. . The father works as a carpenter and the boy’s mother was present at their home during the incident.
