Man taken to police station after woman’s body is found in beachside suburban unit
A woman has been found dead in a unit in Sydney’s eastern beach suburb of Maroubra.
Shortly before midday on Monday, emergency services were called to an address in Astoria Circuit following a report that the woman’s body had been found.
“The woman has yet to be formally identified but is believed to be in her 60s,” a police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
A 50-year-old man is assisting with the investigation.
He was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he is assisting police with investigations.
Police have cordoned off a crime scene and launched an investigation into the death.
Large numbers of police and forensic officers were seen at the unit on Monday afternoon.
Police officers scoured the area, including trash bins, for possible clues.

The forensic officers wore blue overalls and white face masks so as not to contaminate the evidence found at the scene.
A police dog unit was also on the scene as detectives went to the homes of nearby residents to speak to them.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
