Manchester United have agreed to sell winger Tahith Chong to Birmingham City.

The Dutch winger, now 22, was loaned to St Andrew’s last season, scoring once in 20 appearances in an injury prone season.

Chong has also been loaned to Bundesliga side Werder Bremen and Belgium’s Club Brugge.

But the former Holland Under-21 international – who joined from Feyenoord at the age of 16 – played just 16 games in all competitions for United, including just five in the Premier League.

Birmingham’s West Midlands rival, West Bromwich Albion, has been linked with a loan for Chong, but that is considered unlikely at this stage.

John Eustace’s squad have already hired talented United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri, 19, for a season.

The Blues are currently 22nd in the second tier and are in the relegation zone after one win, two draws and four defeats from their first seven games in the league.
