Manipur distributes Rs 300 crore to Rs 4 lakh under welfare schemes | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: The Manipur government on Thursday disbursed Rs 300 crore through direct transfers of benefits (DBT) to four lakh beneficiaries under 46 state and central schemes. The primary focus of the campaign was on internally displaced people affected by the ethnic conflicts which erupted in May 2023.
This assistance included 32 crore rupees for those in reception camps And displaced families of the Kuki and Meitei tribes. On Thursday, Rs 25,000 per family, which amounts to Rs 15 crore, was released as the first instalment of the recently announced ‘special assistance of Rs 1 lakh per family’ for displaced families in relief camps, benefiting around 6,000 displaced families.
The government also launched the Chief Minister’s Yarn Scheme to support handloom weavers and artisans by providing yarn at reasonable prices with government subsidy. In addition, the government launched the Sportspersons Livelihood Guarantee Scheme, aimed at benefiting retired sportspersons.
