Many countries are nervous about US after polls, not India: S Jaishankar | India News – Times of India
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar
Speaking in Mumbai, Jaishankar was asked about the impact of the recent US presidential elections on India-US relations, especially given Prime Minister Modi’s strong personal bond with newly elected President Trump.
“…The Prime Minister was one of the first three calls that President Trump took, I think. Prime Minister Modi has actually built a good rapport between several presidents. When he first came to DC, Obama was the president, then it was Trump, then it was Biden. So you know, for him there’s something natural in the way he builds those relationships. So that helped a lot,” Jaishankar said in his reply.
The Foreign Minister further emphasized India’s position and noted that unlike many other countries, India is not concerned about the latest US presidential election outcome.
“And I think the changes in India have helped too. I know a lot of countries are nervous about the US these days. Let’s be honest about it. We are not one of them,” Jaishankar added.
Meanwhile, Kumar Mangalam Birla, group chairman of Aditya Birla, expressed optimism about Trump’s presidency, citing a “very positive experience” during his previous tenure and also highlighted Trump as “pro-industry.”
