Masks mandatory in Kerala district after Nipah’s death | India News – Times of India

KOZHIKODE: A day after it was confirmed that a 24-year-old student in Kerala’s Malappuram succumbed to the Nipah infection on September 9, authorities have declared containment zones in five districts in the region and made wearing face masks mandatory. Schools, colleges, tutoring centers, madrassasAnganwadis and cinemas have been closed, while shops are allowed to operate from 10am to 7pm. People have also been asked to avoid social gatherings.
The state health department has intensified source and contact tracing and identified 175 contacts of the victim.
