MasterChef finalist admits husband was her teacher and their love got him fired
A MASTERCHEF finalist has left fans stunned after admitting she met her husband when he was her teacher.
Hope Batchelor, 31, appeared on this year’s season of MasterChef UK and reached the final three before being voted off.
She’s since gained a following for sharing recipes on social media, but it’s not her brownies that are causing a stir online.
While celebrating a friend’s wedding, she reflected on her own relationship and how it all started: back in school.
Hope revealed that she and her husband, Lawrence, have a 12-year age difference, adding: “The reason there is a small age difference between Lawrence and me is because I met him when he was my teacher.
“Don’t worry, it’s not an illegal situation, he was 30, I was 19, I was in college, it’s a legal situation.”

Although it may have been legal, the college was not happy with the news and Lawrence lost his job.
Her partner worked at a Fashion College that Hope attended and she admitted: ‘It was quite simple, I liked Lawrence, and I said to my friends I think I’m going to marry this man.’
Since her graphic design teacher was going to help Lawrence with some of Hope’s projects, when she found him on Facebook, she decided to take her photo.
She claimed her emails were unavailable and messaged him on Facebook asking for help, and the rest is history.
“He immediately called my bluff,” Hope admitted, “he replied that emails don’t work, I’ve heard that before, he answered the question I had and he asked me another question.”
Hope knew she was there when he continued the conversation and the couple started dating shortly after.
They did their best to keep it hidden, but ended up getting caught discussing vacations together.
Hope told her friends the places she wanted to visit with her boyfriend and Lawrence did the same with his colleagues – but it seems one of the students realized they were going to the same places and decided to inform the university of their suspicions .
She recalled that when she was 20, he was taken to a meeting at work and she had to admit to the relationship and leave or they would investigate and fire him in a “bad way.”
Lawrence decided to leave quietly instead, but Hope says it was the best thing that could have happened.
