Math teacher makes a mistake in counting, student fails
AHMEDABAD: In board exams, where every mark counts, a teacher made a total mistake of as much as 30 marks, due to which the student failed the Class X boards. When Gujarat State Education Board After I verified the result on the student’s reassessment application, it turned out that it was a math teacher who had done the simple addition wrong!
This year, the state board has fined 4,488 teachers for making total mistakes in awarding marks in classes 10 and 12 boards. In all, the misguided teachers will collectively cost Rs 64 lakh in the form of fines, GSEB officials said.
Officials said they were surprised to discover that many of the roughly 100 teachers who had made counting errors of 10 points or more were math teachers.
