Matty Johns will officially return to SEN for 2025 – but there’s no sign of his brother Andrew after the footy stars infamously fell out last year

  • Matty Johns will appear on SEN Radio in 2025
  • Fifth consecutive year on the AM airwaves
  • Brother Andrew Johns will not join him
  • Siblings fell out last May over Origin’s positions

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) has confirmed that rugby league’s Matty Johns will return to the airwaves in 2025, but there was no mention of his younger brother Andrew.

It comes after the siblings had a dramatic falling out in May last year when ‘Joey’ felt his brother was publicly showing his support for Queensland ahead of the State of Origin series.

At the time, Andrew Johns, rugby league’s 8th Immortal, was part of the Blues’ coaching staff under Brad Fittler.

Matthew praised Maroons coach Billy Slater, which irritated his younger sibling.

‘Slater is close to the best coach in the world. You just know how he explains, how he coaches, the intricacies, the players absolutely love him,” Fox Sports’ golden boy Matthew said on SEN at the time.

“Queensland knows exactly how they are going to play and who they need to pick to make that happen.”

Andrew fired back: “Put on your Maroon jersey, you should have that at home. Just because you’ve played four games and lost four doesn’t mean you have to beat NSW.”

Their feud continued to rage, with Matthew subsequently banned from attending Andrew’s 52nd birthday.

Many fans and pundits expected the feud to blow over, but tensions between them remained high.

Eventually Jack Johns intervened and drove with his father to his uncle’s house in Sydney East.

The stubborn brothers nursed their differences, but it doesn’t appear to be enough to convince Andrew – who is employed by Channel 9 – to return to SEN’s North Sydney studio next year.

Regardless, SEN boss Craig Hutchison was delighted that Johns is returning for a fifth year.

He will be a regular guest on the Morning Glory program every Friday and twice a week on “The Run Home with Joel and Fletch,” co-hosted by Joel Caine and Fox League funnyman Brian Fletcher.

“Matty Johns has become a cornerstone of our Friday line-up at SEN in Sydney and Queensland, and it’s fantastic to have him back,” Hutchison said.

“His passion for sport and his ability to entertain audiences are second to none.

‘Morning Glory’ is the perfect way to kickstart the weekend for all the NRL fans, who we know can’t wait to have it back on air in early February.”
