Maybe don’t expect a huge battery upgrade with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
With the launches of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 behind us, we can now turn our attention to the Samsung Galaxy S25. However, the latest rumor suggests that the Ultra model won’t be getting a major upgrade in at least one key area.
According to reliable tipster Ice UniverseThe Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra will come with a 5,000mAh battery and 45W wired charging speed. If these specs sound familiar, that’s because they’re identical to those of the same model last year.
In other words, you can expect average battery life to be more or less the same on the 2025 model, though software and hardware optimizations may give you more time between charges.
As our Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra review will tell you, that phone had excellent battery life – longer than the iPhone 15 Pro Max – so it seems Samsung is happy to stick with the status quo for the Ultra model.
Cameras and frames
Other changes we’ve heard about with this phone include a change in the shape of the frame to make the handset a bit more comfortable to hold. At the same time, it’s also said to be narrower from one end to the other.
Perhaps the biggest news in terms of upgrades is the quad-lens camera system on the back. Previous leaks have suggested there could be a 200MP primary camera, a 50MP super-telephoto camera (with 5x optical zoom), a 50MP secondary telephoto camera (with 3x optical zoom), and a 50MP ultra-wide camera.
That would be a significant step up from the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s four cameras, but nothing is set in stone yet. Other leaks have suggested one of the rear cameras could be ditched, albeit with an increase in zoom capabilities.
Of course, we’re still a long way off from the launch of the Galaxy S25 phones, and it’s possible Samsung is still working out some of the finer details. Before we see new Galaxy devices, we’ll be getting new Pixels from Google and Android 15.
