Me and my husband sleep in bunk beds – people think it’s super weird
A WOMAN has revealed she and her husband choose to sleep in separate bunk beds every night.
Casey and Andy have king-sized bunk beds, and after a goodnight kiss, Casey climbs up the ladder to cuddle her cat.
The couple has been very public about their unconventional sleeping arrangement online, which has led to thousands of comments wondering how they manage to sleep without skin-to-skin contact.
“Many people say they would rather wake up in a sweaty pool than be without their partner in the middle of the night,” she said in a video on her TikTok channel.
“But feeling hot in our sleep is mine and Andy’s worst nightmare.”
Casey said she and her husband use this tactic because it helps them get a good night’s sleep, which is good for their mental and physical health.

Why you should consider ‘sleep separation’
Couples who have trouble getting a good night’s sleep due to their partner’s habits may benefit from a “sleep divorce.” This term refers to the practice of sleeping in separate beds or even separate rooms to ensure that both partners get a good night’s sleep. While the idea of sleeping apart may seem drastic or unromantic, experts claim it can actually improve the overall quality of a relationship.
Sleep disturbances caused by a partner can take many forms, such as snoring, different sleep schedules, or restless movements during the night. These disruptions can lead to chronic sleep deprivation, which has been linked to a range of health problems, including weakened immune function, reduced cognitive performance and an increased risk of chronic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. By choosing separate sleeping arrangements, couples can mitigate these negative effects and wake up feeling fresher and more energetic.
Furthermore, a “sleep divorce” does not necessarily mean a lack of intimacy or connection in the relationship. Many couples find that by prioritizing their sleep, they can be more present and affectionate during their waking hours. Separate sleeping arrangements can also create opportunities for more intentional and meaningful interactions, as partners can make a conscious effort to spend quality time together. Ultimately, the decision to sleep apart should be based on open communication and mutual agreement, with the goal of improving the well-being of both partners.
“Why do I get my own bed from childhood to adulthood and when I get a boyfriend I get half a bed? What a scam.”
A second person added: “This actually sounds great but I’m not taking a chance on the top bunk.
“He could be the one climbing a ladder after a nice cuddle lol.”
A third person said: “My husband and I actually have separate bedrooms, and our marriage is perfect.”
A fourth person added: “I’m a light sleeper and have insomnia. My husband snores loudly.
“Separate bedrooms saved our marriage, my sanity, and his life!”
