Meet the 23-year-old Wimbledon billionaire who is worth more than Federer, Nadal and Djokovic combined and is related to a famous American football player
Spectators at Wimbledon today can be sure of seeing rising American star Emma Navarro on court: she certainly isn’t coming to SW19 for the money.
The New York-raised athlete, who made her Grand Slam debut at the 2021 US Open, has such a large personal fortune that the £2.7 million prize fund for the tournament’s winner may seem a little small.
Emma is the daughter of wealthy American billionaire and investment magnate Ben Navarro. The tennis star quietly enjoys a £3 billion inheritance.
Tycoon Ben, 61, who is married to Emma’s mother Kelly, built his billionaire empire through numerous business ventures, most notably as the founder and owner of Sherman Financial Group, which has assets including Credit One Bank.
American tennis star Emma Navarro isn’t too worried about the Wimbledon prize pool; she has a net worth greater than Federer, Nadal and Djokovic combined
Wealthy background: Emma’s staggering fortune is largely due to her billionaire business magnate father Ben Navarro, the son of former Ivy League football player and now coach Frank Navarro (pictured from right: Kelly, Emma and Ben Navarro)
Emma worked hard on the court, however, building a hard-won college tennis career before turning pro. She was given a wildcard into the US Open three years ago and was the first at Wimbledon this year.
And she’s already making waves, reaching the second round to face four-time Grand Slam singles champion Naomi Osaka Today.
Sports runs in the family’s genes; her grandfather was a former Ivy League football player and now coach Frank Navarro, who has earned acclaim for his work at America’s most prestigious universities, including Princeton and Columbia.

Her Instagram account, which has a modest 40,000 fans, is mainly dedicated to the sport she loves, with occasional glimpses into a more luxurious lifestyle via photos of boutique shopping and her jet-setting life on the women’s tennis tour.
There are also many photos of the family’s pets, including Marti, a shaggy black-and-white dog who seems to have a special place in Emma’s heart.
Despite her 19th-ranked ranking in women’s singles, Navarro has yet to take home a single major trophy or any of the staggering cheques paid out on the ATP tour.
However, her performance so far at SW19 means she has already earned around £93,000 for a first-round win, and that figure will rise to over £140,000 if she beats Osaka, who is in the process of climbing back to the top of the sport following the birth of her daughter last year.
Although the American hopes to impress and show that she is ready for the future, there is certainly no financial pressure to push her. Thanks to her impressive family allowance, she could retire in luxury tomorrow if she wanted to.
The 23-year-old isn’t the only athlete in the Navarro family, her grandfather Frank Navarro was a former American college football player turned coach
Ben also showed interest in his daughter’s passion and became the first in the world to invest in tennis by acquiring Charlestown Tennis LLC in 2018 through his company Beemok Sports, which is home to the longest-running women’s tennis tournament, the Charlestown Open.
Before spending nearly $300 million (£237 million) to secure the Western and Southern Open, a major tennis tournament, in 2022.
The Western and Southern Open will feature 19 of the top 20 tennis players in 2022. It is one of nine tennis tournaments recognized worldwide as a top-class tournament for both male and female players.
Affectionate Dad: Navarro’s father has taken a keen interest in his daughter’s career — investing in a tennis club, Charlestown Tennis LLC, which hosts the world’s longest-running all-women’s tennis tournament, the Charlestown Open
Navarro could retire tomorrow, such is the size of her family’s impressive fortune; she is estimated to be worth more than Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic (pictured left) and Roger Federer (pictured right) combined.
The rising star faces a tough challenge on Wednesday as she plays against Naomi Osaka, who returned to the sport after the birth of her daughter in 2023.
The rising tennis star has already achieved the financial feat most players dream of before their active careers even end.
Navarro’s estimated net worth is around £3 billion, which is far more than the net worth of tennis greats such as Roger Federer (£550 million, £434 million), Rafael Nadal (£220 million, £174 million) and Novak Djokovic (£240 million, £189 million).
The 23-year-old athlete, who made her debut at the Australian Open in January, is not the only one with a well-known sports name in her family.
Her late grandfather Frank Navarro was an American college football player turned coach.
Frank served as head coach for Williams College, Columbia University, Wabash College and Princeton University and even introduced the “Monster Defense” at Williams.
