Liverpool delivery driver Zac Jones has been hopping from one ‘horrible’ hotel to another, sharing footage of his experiences, which has earned him over 70,000 followers for his @zacjonesliverpool TikTok account.
Zac scours Tripadvisor for hotels with shockingly bad reviews and then travels the country to give his verdict.
Below we feature six of Zac’s reviewed properties, which were characterised by ‘dirty’ bathrooms, bins full of rubbish in the hallways, sticky floors, musty smells and, in one case, a bedroom that was already unlocked when he arrived.

A recent reviewer, ‘Maddie’, urged users of the review platform not to waste their money, concluding that it was ‘by far the worst hotel’ she had ever stayed in.
“It’s disgustingly hot in the rooms and nothing works at all,” she fumed.
In the video After writing a review for this property, Zac wanted to determine whether the hotel was ‘as bad as they say’.
As he enters the building, which is lit by a neon sign, he says it “looks nice from the outside.”
As he explores the building and finds his room, he says it’s “far from perfect, but also far from terrible.”
On closer inspection of the roomhe says his bed and bathroom look clean and concludes that there is ‘not much to complain about’.

Adelphi Hotel – Liverpool
The Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool (pictured) has an average rating of 2.5 out of 5 based on 8,975 Tripadvisor reviews
The Adelphi Hotel is ranked 106 out of 109 hotels in Liverpool, with an average rating of 2.5 out of five. 8,975 reviewsof which nearly 3,000 have been rated ‘terrible’.
On paper, it doesn’t look appealing. One Tripadvisor reviewer complained that the staff were “rude and unhelpful” and another was disappointed with their “dark, dirty and unclean” room.
What does Zac think?
Looking at the outside, he says it’s “a very nice building,” and upon entering, he notices: ‘I’ve been to worse places than this.’ He describes his room as ‘a bit dated’ but ‘clean’, apart from the ‘rotten windows’.
As you explore the rest of the building, including the impressive entrance, he says: ‘People joke about this place, but it actually takes me back in time. I think it’s a bit of a posh place.’
Rooms from £45 per night.
The Crown Hotel – Stoke-on-Trent
The Crown Hotel in Stoke-on-Trent (pictured) has 207 ‘terrible’ reviews out of 335 on Tripadvisor
Oh dear.
This Britannia hotel, which attracts visitors to nearby Alton Towers, is almost universally hated, with 207 ‘terrible’ reviews out of a total of 335.
One reviewer said: ‘Do not stay here especially if you have children. We were given a room that was not cleaned and was dirty [with] hair in the sink, unmade beds. And the room where my partner and I were standing smelled like sewage.’
When Zac checks inhis bedroom is already open and unlocked, which is not a good start.
He continues to label parts of the bathroom ‘disgusting’ and adds that he ‘doesn’t feel like sitting on the toilet’.
The bed “feels cheap,” he says, and the room “basic,” but he concludes it’s “not that bad.”
But compared to what? Some may ask…
Rooms from £35 per night.

Britannia Hotel – Bolton

Of these, 185 were rated ‘terrible’ and 104 were rated ‘poor’. Eighty-two guests rated the hotel as ‘excellent’.
But what does Zac conclude?
Zac Notes the “nice” couches in the lobby, but then becomes upset by the black trash can full of garbage outside his room, which he describes as the worst britannia room where he has ever been.
The problems? They include a “damp smell,” a “sticky” bathroom floor and a door with multiple scratches on it, probably ‘from a dog’. Who perhaps wanted to escape desperately.
Zac concludes: ‘This is not a well-maintained hotel at all.’

The Grand Hotel – Scarborough

One reviewer said their room smelled like “rotten cheese.”
