It ended with a recording of her untitled upcoming memoir, Melania, which will be released on Tuesday.

The glowing post about her husband came just days after Melania defended abortion rights – in stark contrast to her “charming” husband.

“Individual freedom is a fundamental principle that I protect,” she said in a video on X.

“Undoubtedly, there is no room for compromise when it comes to this essential right that all women possess from birth: individual freedom. What does ‘my body, my choice’ actually mean?’

The video came after The Guardian obtained an early copy of Melania last week, in which she talked about how she has starkly different views on abortion than her husband. the current Republican candidate.

“It is imperative to ensure that women have autonomy in determining their childbearing preferences, based on their own beliefs, without any government intervention or pressure,” the former first lady wrote.

‘Why should anyone other than the woman herself have the power to determine what she does with her own body? A woman’s fundamental right to individual freedom over her own life gives her the power to terminate her pregnancy if she so chooses,” she continued.

“Restricting a woman’s right to choose whether to terminate an unwanted pregnancy is like denying her control over her own body,” she says. ‘I have carried this belief with me my entire adult life.’

In her memoir, Melania writes that “occasional political disagreements between me and my husband” are “part of our relationship,” adding that she believes in “addressing them personally rather than challenging him publicly.”

Later in the book she explains why she supports abortion.

“I have always believed that it is critical that people take care of themselves first,” she says. ‘It’s a very simple concept; In fact, we are all born with a number of fundamental rights, including the right to enjoy our lives.”

‘We all have the right to a satisfying and dignified existence. This common sense approach applies to a woman’s natural right to make decisions about her own body and health.”

Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News on Thursday that he had spoken to his wife about the book and told her to “go with your heart.”

‘We’ve talked about it. And I said: you have to write what you believe. I’m not going to tell you what to do. You have to write what you believe,” he said.

But pro-life activists were quick to criticize Melania for having views that differ from her husband’s.

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, wrote on Twitter/ -life voters are being undermined. What a waste of momentum.”

Hawkins continued in a lengthy post on Twitter/X last night, ruling that Melania’s “support” for abortion is “anti-feminist and clearly outside the teachings of our Catholic faith.”

“Abortion takes an innocent life and is the opposite of empowerment because women are told they cannot balance the gift of children and a career, so they must choose one.”

Melania’s views are at odds with those of her husband, who has openly said abortion law should be left to the states and has taken credit for appointing the three Supreme Court justices who helped pass Roe vs. Wade – the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision that gave women a federal right to abortion.

The decision led to safe abortion practices being banned or restricted in 22 states, and Trump has said he has “no regrets” about the appointments.

Since then, the former president has tried to portray himself as more moderate on the issue as it has become a political liability for Republicans.

In August, Trump told DailyMail.com exclusively that he could vote to end Florida’s draconian six-week abortion ban when it comes up in a referendum later this year.

Days later, after irritating his party’s anti-abortion wing, he said he would not vote to overturn the six-week limit.

This Tuesday, Trump finally said he would veto a federal abortion ban, after previously avoiding a clear answer.

But his wife’s admission is raising eyebrows, just a month before he faces Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the presidential election, with abortion rights set to become one of voters’ most decisive issues.

Harris has portrayed herself as the “pro-choice” candidate, while Trump has often struggled to find a clear position on the issue.
