Melania Trump reveals who she blames for Donald Trump assassination attempts, opens up about Barron in first interview in two years

Melania Trump said she believed God was watching over her husband Donald Trump during the two attempts on his life. She blamed Democrats for creating a “toxic” political atmosphere that led to the two assassination attempts.

“Is it really shocking that all of this outrageous violence is directed at my husband?” the former first lady said in an interview with Fox News promoting her forthcoming memoir.

“Especially that we hear the opposition party leaders and the mainstream media branding him as a threat to democracy, calling him disgusting names. They are just fueling a toxic atmosphere and all those people that they wanted to harm – this has to stop, this has to stop. The country has to unite and I encourage everyone to re-read my letter that I wrote on July 14. Because that can’t go on.”

Trump, 54, spoke to Fox News’ Ainsley Earhardt in New York for a taped interview, excerpts of which aired Thursday morning on Fox and Friends.

In the wide-ranging interview, her first in two years, she discussed the 2024 presidential election, life in the White House and how her modeling career has prepared her for the office of First Lady of the United States.

Behind-the-scenes photos were on display, including some never-before-seen photos of Barron Trump.

But she also discussed the recent attempts on the former president’s life.

“I think there was something watching over him. It’s almost like the country really needed him,” she said.

Melania Trump, who has always been seen as a reluctant political wife, said she supported Donald Trump’s political ambitions.

“I support him. I know how passionate he is about making America great again,” she said.

She denied when asked whether Kamala Harris would replace Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee, and has now decided to focus on promoting her husband’s presidential campaign.

“All he wants, as he says, is to make America great again. He wants to make this country prosperous. Safe for everyone. He wants to make the American dream possible again,” she said.

Melania Trump has yet to appear at a political event for her husband. She attended his presidential nomination announcement speech and saw him speak at the Republican National Convention. But she has not attended either presidential debate and has remained on the sidelines of the election.

Still, she told Fox News that her early career as a model and her time in the fashion world prepared her for the role of first lady.

“I think nothing has prepared me better for my role as first lady than the fashion industry,” she said.

“The fashion industry is glamorous, but it’s also very harsh. Everyone judges you. Looks at you a certain way. So it can be a mean world. So nothing has prepared me better for this world than fashion. It gives you a thick skin,” Trump added.

The notoriously private former first lady also spoke about her family life, saying she found it difficult to tell her 18-year-old son Barron about the attempted assassination of his father and offering some insight into her husband.

She described Donald Trump as “a family man. He loves his country. And all he wants to do is build back better. And prosperous.”

And when asked what she loved about him, she said, “His humor, his personality, his kindness, he’s very special. His positivity. His energy. It’s incredible.”

She also said that he wanted more children, but that she was fine with just having Barron.

“I was always fine. And Donald encouraged me to have more and I said I was totally fine with it because it’s a very busy life. And I know how busy he is. And I’m responsible for everything. So that’s why it’s just perfect,” she said.

Her book describes her four years in the White House.

She described her role as first lady as “an extra, extra responsibility.”

And she told Fox News she had a good relationship with Brigette Macron, the first lady of France, whom she described as “nice.”

She also said she was close to Akie Abe, Japan’s former first lady, and offered her condolences. Abe’s husband, Shinzo Abe, was assassinated in July 2022.

Trump, who was born in Slovenia, spoke of her pride in becoming an American citizen. She became a citizen on July 28, 2006.

She told Fox New that she had “gone through the process,” but did not elaborate. Questions have been raised about her visa status. She had a visa reserved for immigrants with “exceptional ability” and “sustained national and international recognition.”

Questions have also been raised about whether she used her status to help her parents obtain citizenship, a process known as “chain migration.” Donald Trump has been vocal in his opposition to “chain migration” and immigration in general.

“I was very proud. I went through the process and that day was a big celebration, I was very, very proud,” she said.

Trump spoke to Fox News about Melania, her memoir due out October 8.

Earhardt was given a sneak preview of the book and said it includes behind-the-scenes photos of Barron as a child and the family in the White House. During the interview, she showed a photo of Melania working at her desk in Trump Tower with a young Barron playing in a toy car in front of her.

“I think it’s really important that we show our kids that we’re working to give them an example of what life is like. That they see us as really productive, that we have ideas. That ideas come to life,” Trump.

The former first lady, who has been the subject of several biographies, said she wrote her memoir because it was time to tell her story.

“I think it was a time that I told my story and the truth. There’s a lot of misinformation and untruths written about me. And I want to set the record straight and people can learn things that haven’t been talked about. And I hope they enjoy the book,” she said.
