Best deals on home security cameras
Ring has a slew of video doorbells, but this battery-powered 1080p option is one of the most affordable, no-frills versions that still receives updates to get the latest Ring features. These include customizable privacy zones and audio privacy for two-way conversations, as well as improved night vision. It also works particularly well with Alexa. A Ring Protect subscription is required to store video footage and receive smart alerts.
The Blink Mini 2 is an improvement over the Blink Mini in almost every way, including a much better field of view, outdoor options, and overall better performance. There’s even a mini spotlight hidden in this little camera. The second-generation model was more expensive than the first, but not at this discount, making it one of the most affordable, versatile security cameras on the market, especially for small spaces.
The Blink Outdoor 4 is an extremely versatile security camera that feels at home anywhere outdoors, with replaceable lithium-ion batteries that last for years. In addition to the easy-to-use Blink app, the cam has motion detection, two-way audio, night vision and many setting options. For video storage, you’ll need a Blink subscription or a spare USB drive.
One of our favorite Blink additions to the Outdoor 3 was a spotlight version for extra lighting, and now that upgrade has finally come to the Outdoor 4 and currently at a huge discount. It’s one of the most affordable spotlight cams out there and includes all the bells and whistles of the Blink Outdoor 4, including motion detection to activate the lights, long battery life, and more. Like other Blink cams, it works with Alexa, but not other voice assistants.
This big Prime Day discount makes the Ring Indoor Cam one of the most affordable options for indoor security. While it’s not battery-powered like some of our favorite Ring cams, it does have color night vision, two-way audio, and highly customizable alerts (a Ring Protect subscription is required to store cloud video). You can add an extended power cord for trickier mounting situations, or you can just set it down on a shelf and let it get to work.
We love Arlo’s high-end cameras, but they’re too expensive for many buyers. The 2nd Generation Essential 2K Camera is a perfect replacement to save money while taking advantage of Arlo’s excellent features, and with this deal you can save even more, making it one of our favorite security cam picks on sale is. This model is extremely durable for all types of outdoor weather and includes a spotlight and other smart bells and whistles. Please note that you may need an Arlo subscription to unlock everything.
Kasa is an excellent brand for extra cheap security cameras that don’t disappoint. This HD model features pan/tilt functions and object tracking for a 360-degree view of your home. Blink Doorbell regularly makes our recommendations for a great cheap video doorbell, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it this cheap! If you’ve always wanted a video doorbell but don’t want to spend a lot of money on it, this is the best choice. Blink’s model includes key features like two-way audio, call alerts, motion detection, live view from the app, and Alexa compatibility. If you want video storage, you’ll need to add a subscription or Sync Module 2.
Ring has another option if you’re primarily focused on indoor security: this pan-tilt camera can see from anywhere and connect you to both live view and two-way audio when necessary. It comes with HD resolution, color night vision, and all the Alexa compatibility you could want.
The Canary universal HD security camera offers the basics like two-way audio, night vision, live view, and motion detection, but there are some interesting extras that get even more interesting with this big deal. The camera has an extra high 10x zoom to focus on the details, geofencing to automatically switch the camera on or off and more.
This camera boasts top-notch security features like 4K resolution and an incredible 180-degree field of view for viewing extra-wide spaces. But a highlight is the included solar panel, which allows you to place this camera in all kinds of places and charge the battery naturally in the sunlight. If you’re looking for a serious security camera upgrade, this sale is for you.
Best home security bundle deals
For home security on a budget, Blink has a whole bundle that includes an Outdoor 4 camera, a multifunctional Blink Mini 2, and a Blink Video Doorbell. That’s all most homes need, all from the highly intuitive Blink app. Additionally, the bundle includes the Sync Module 2 to enable free video storage. The wireless camera and doorbell operate on AA lithium batteries, which have a useful life of up to two years.
Lorex is planning some big sales for Prime Day and offers one of the best options if you want a professional, commercial-ready security system that doesn’t compromise on quality while saving you money. This set of 8 4K cameras is PoE-enabled, so while you’ll need to plug them in, they don’t need Wi-Fi to work. They also come with color night vision, motion detection, two-way audio and weather resistance for all kinds of outdoor work. And the set includes a 2TB NVR to manage all the video storage. That’s a great option if you’re looking for a commercial surveillance system.
Best smart lock deals
August Home’s durable, smart construction often comes at a price to match, but with this deal you can get a fourth-generation August smart lock on more affordable terms. The Wi-Fi smart lock fits your existing deadbolt and offers app control, including the ability to share digital keys. You can also set schedules or ensure that the door automatically locks after a certain time. The lock also has excellent compatibility and works with platforms such as Alexa, HomeKit, Google Home and Samsung SmartThings.
Aqara’s smart lock has a host of control options, from geofencing to working with Apple Home or Bluetooth proximity (with more features added via an Aqara hub). It’s also sturdy, responsive and has great fingerprint capabilities. If you need a smart lock, this is currently one of our favorites and is on sale now.
Many smart locks (even retrofits that let you keep your deadbolt) are bulky, which can be a big turnoff for buyers. This Lockly model solves that with a minimal fingerprint sensor that barely takes up any space. You can store 99 fingerprints for the lock to recognize, and the small design also makes installation extra easy.
Best deals on smart home technology
If you’re looking for simpler security technology, these little door stops sound an alarm when activated. That’s it. They just help you know when a door has been opened. Sometimes that’s all you need, and at under $15, this pair is a very good deal right now.
Best choice for sales security platform
ADT’s latest ADT Plus offering is deeply integrated with Google Nest devices, and the Halloween sale makes it even easier to adopt Nest devices. Buy a self-install ADT kit for at least $650 and a professional monitoring plan (starting at $45 per month), and you’ll get a free Google Nest Doorbell and Google Nest Cam Battery for free. That also allows more options for ADT Trusted Neighbor, which uses Nest AI to recognize familiar faces and automatically turn off the system.
When is the best time to buy home security equipment?
Although prices fluctuate throughout the year and Black Friday and holiday sales make for great purchases, the best prices for home security devices including cameras and smart locks often appear during Amazon’s Prime Day, when the giant e-tailer drops prices and its competitors are stepping up to match these cuts.
How we choose the best security device deals
At CNET, we have a team of expert shoppers and deal hunters with years of experience. Our goal is to make sure shoppers understand which big sales and deals (like Black Friday, Prime Day, Memorial Day, and countless other shopping events) are legitimately good and which are more routine. We’ve gotten really good at weeding out scams and superficial deals, so you only see the best deals on security equipment from retailers everywhere.
We look for real discounts, quality ratings and remaining sales time when choosing a deal to show you.
- Real discounts mean exactly that. We look at the price history of that product to ensure that no manufacturer is inflating prices to make the discount appear more substantial than it is.
- Reviews are important for any product, but especially for heavily discounted items. If an item breaks the first time you use it, the deal is bad at any price.
- The remaining sales time is a large part of our control process. If it looks like a deal is only for a short time or is only available on remaining stock, we’ll let you know in advance so you don’t renege on the deal later and be disappointed.
We keep our articles as up to date as possible to offer you the best current prices.
