A notorious killer who spent decades in prison for brutally stabbing a sex worker during a bloody massacre has attacked a prison guard.
Mert Ney shocked Sydney in August 2019 when he murdered 24-year-old Michaela Dunn and ran through the streets with a knife, stabbing another woman, before being overpowered by brave Good Samaritans.
He was sentenced to more than 40 years in prison. Chief Justice Peter Johnson described his actions as a “vicious, brutal and terrifying attack without reason”.
Ney is being held in the state’s maximum security prison, Goulburn Supermax.
Ney reportedly stabbed a prison guard during an incident on Friday morning.
