Michelle Obama delivers a series of scathing insults to Trump and delivers a brazen one-liner about ‘black jobs’ in speech at the bustling Democratic convention
Former First Lady Michelle Obama declared at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago that “hope is returning,” offering heartfelt compliments to Vice President Kamala Harris and sharply condemning Donald Trump.
“There’s something wonderfully magical in the air, isn’t there?” the former first lady said after taking the stage at the United Center to a hero’s welcome.
“Not just here in this arena, but across the land we love, a familiar feeling that has been buried too deep for too long. You know what I’m talking about? It’s the infectious power of hope.”
The former first lady invoked hope as a reminder of her husband, former President Obama’s, historic run for the presidency. Obama gave a resounding endorsement of Harris, calling her “ready for this moment.”
“Her story is your story. It’s my story. It’s the story of the vast majority of Americans who are trying to build a better life,” she said.

Obama first referred to Harris’ Republican opponent Trump, then attacked him by name with a series of scathing insults. It was perhaps the most vicious rebuttal of the Republican Party presidential nominee at the party convention to date.
“Kamala has shown her loyalty to this country not by expressing anger and bitterness, but by living a life of service and always expanding the possibilities for others,” she said.
“If we let a company go bankrupt or choke on a crisis, we don’t get a second, third or fourth chance,” she said. “When we see a mountain in front of us, we don’t expect an escalator to be ready to take us to the top.”
She warned that she already knew what was going to happen and that there would be people who would try to twist the truth about Harris.
“My husband and I, unfortunately, know something about this,” she said. “For years, Donald Trump has done everything he can to make people afraid of us,” she said.
‘His limited and narrow-minded view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hard-working, highly educated, successful people who also happened to be black.’
“Who’s going to tell him that the job he’s applying for now might be one of those ‘black jobs’?” she asked.
The crowd in the arena went wild when they heard her stunning takedown.
Michelle Obama slammed Donald Trump with the line: ‘Who’s going to tell him that the job he’s applying for right now might be one of those ‘black jobs’?’
“It’s the same old story: he continues to use ugly, misogynistic, racist lies as a substitute for real ideas and solutions that will actually make people’s lives better,” she continued.
She argued that “small-scale action is childish” and called it unhealthy and unpresidential.
Obama gave Harris a resounding endorsement, saying she and Harris have built their lives on the same fundamental values. He also praised her and her running mate, Tim Walz, as “good, generous people.”
“She is one of the most qualified people to ever seek the presidency, and she is one of the most worthy candidates, a tribute to her mother, to my mother and probably to your mother as well,” she said.
But the former first lady didn’t just praise the Democratic presidential candidate, she warned that Democrats face an uphill battle and a close race. The former first lady used her speech as a call to action.
“No, this is up to us, all of us, to be the solution that we seek. It is up to all of us to be the antidote to all the darkness and division,” she said.
She said “our fate is in our hands” and urged Democrats to “work as if our lives depend on it” until Election Day.
Michelle Obama is one of the most beloved members of the Democratic Party. Many had hoped that the former first lady would run for office, although she has always distanced herself from politics

Obama was a superstar at the United Center in Chicago. She is one of, if not the most beloved Democrat in the party. Many hoped at some point she would become president herself.
But the former first lady could be one of the most powerful advocates for Harris and the Democrats, even without running for office.
Her message was so well received that when she tried to introduce her husband, the former president, he joked that he was ready to go, “even if I’m the only one dumb enough to speak right after Michelle Obama.”
As Obama spoke, Harris and Walz were just 90 miles away in Milwaukee, holding a separate, well-attended rally in the battleground state of Wisconsin, the same location where Republicans held their party convention last month.
