Microsoft is closing its site dedicated to software licensing information and education
- The Get Licensing Ready site will cease to exist as of January 1, 2025
- Users have been given until New Year’s Eve to complete the training
- New AI-powered learning improvements are coming soon
Microsoft has quietly confirmed that it will close its ‘Get Licensing Ready’ page in the new year, giving users until the end of the year to complete their training modules.
Advertised as a “complete and up-to-date resource for anyone wanting to learn about Microsoft licensing,” the page contains more than 50 modules and other documentation designed to help users navigate the tricky world of software licensing.
The special email alias for Get Licensing Ready will also no longer work on January 1, 2025.
Microsoft shuts down Get Licensing Ready
A pop-up on the page confirms: “The Get Licensing Ready website will be retired on January 1, 2025. Microsoft will end support for licensing certifications through this platform and phase out the Get Licensing Ready resource.”
Although users have just over a month to complete active modules and download their certificates, current certificates remain valid for the full twelve-month period from the date they were issued.
Despite the platform’s closure, it appears the content and resources will be moved to microsoft.com/licensing. A spokesperson reported this (via The registry) the company “remains committed to supporting licensing knowledge and building solutions for our partners and customers.”
Microsoft also hinted at new features, citing “new AI capabilities to further improve learning and engagement.” The recently launched Partner Center AI assistant currently helps manage partner accounts, billing and memberships, but does not solve licensing issues.
While the resources will continue to be available in a slightly different format, in the meantime, site users will need to act quickly to ensure their certifications are complete and downloaded before the New Year’s deadline.
