Microsoft’s new Xbox Game Pass Standard tier is now available
Microsoft launched a new Xbox Game Pass Standard tier on Tuesday. For $15 per monthThe new tier includes online multiplayer access for consoles, access to hundreds of games in the Game Pass library, and up to 50% off the purchase of some games not available through Game Pass.
However, the new tier does not grant access to new games on the day they release, aka Day 1. That means that when Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, for example, releases on October 25, Standard subscribers will have to purchase the game separately to play it, or wait for Microsoft to add it to the Game Pass library later.
“[Day 1 releases] “will not be available immediately with Game Pass Standard and may be added to the library in the future,” Xbox said in an email to CNET. “This could take up to 12 months or more and varies by title.”
Microsoft announced the new Game Pass tier in July, along with the announcement that it would be discontinuing the Game Pass Console tier for new subscribers. The Console tier cost $11 per month, included Day 1 releases, and gave subscribers access to hundreds of games.
The company also announced in July that it would raise the price of Game Pass Ultimate from $17 to $20 per month. This price hike for Ultimate subscribers marked the second time the price for the tier had increased in two years.
Now you can choose from these four tiers, all of which offer discounts on a number of games not available through Game Pass.
