MLA faces second MCC violation case in four days
The Pune Rural Police has registered a case against NCP’s Sunil Shelke, a member MLA from Maharashtra’s Maval constituency, on charges of violating the model code of conduct during his election rally in Lonavla on Saturday.
This is the second violation of the poll code against Shelke in four days.
The MLA was given the nod to campaign in and around Lonavla from 9 am to 5 pm. “The route, times and location of the campaign meeting were specifically mentioned in the consent,” police said. “But his followers went towards the temple in Bhangarwadi.
Our bandobast team told them not to change the route as independent candidate Bapu Bhegade and his supporters were present there and their action could create a law and order situation. But they didn’t stop,” he said.
Shelke and his 18 supporters were booked under BNS sections 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 3 (5) [common intention] and 223 (disobedience to an order issued by a public official).
