The MNS chief's son finishes third in the Mahim poll debut
Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray’s son Amit, only the second Thackeray to contest an election after MLA cousin Aaditya, lost to Mahim by over 17,000 votes in his poll debut.
Mahesh Sawant of Shiv Sena (UBT) won the Mahim seat with 50,213 votes. Sitting Sena MLA Sada Sarvankar got 48,897 votes while Amit got 33,062 votes. Celebrations broke out for Sawant at Shivaji Park, the heart of the undivided Shiv Sena and home to Sena Bhavan – the headquarters of Uddhav-headed Sena UBT.
