Mom Feeds Kids Recycled Food Made From Leftovers – Trolls Call Her ‘Gross’
A mother of four has revealed she has previously been called ‘dirty’ for her money-saving tactics.
Aimee Connor is determined to find ways to reduce her grocery budget and has discovered an interesting technique for recycling food.
The resourceful mother has made breakfast cereal from bread dough, a jar of granola from half-eaten pancakes and a dessert from old Rice Krispies.
And it’s not old leftovers that the mother uses, but food that comes straight from her children’s plates.
Rather than throwing away the well-prepared breakfasts, lunches and dinners that her children refuse to eat or even touch, Aimee has discovered another technique to ensure they don’t go to waste.
Aimee, who regularly shares videos on her TikTok page @doelen.lcsays her daughter has a “sensitive stomach,” which means a lot of food can go to waste.
Instead, Aimee will make a different kind of recipe.
She tells the camera: “My kids have a really low appetite, but some days they’ll just eat whatever I give them. So it’s really hard for me to find that happy medium.
“It’s not just me. I think it’s just kids in general.
“We’re just trying to figure out what they want to eat, and they’re not actively telling you.
“You just have to guess, and sometimes you’re wrong. So there’s a lot of food waste.
“They didn’t touch them, they didn’t even breathe on them. It’s a lot of food, and besides, my dog can’t eat it because he has a sensitive stomach.
“I know I’m not changing the world or anything, but I just find it really hard to waste anything, especially in this climate.
“I don’t have the money to buy just NutriGrain because they don’t feel like Cheerios for a week. Cereals are pretty expensive these days.”
Her videos often go viral and many people leave comments to share their opinions.
Someone wrote: “You are so incredibly creative with food! Sometimes I’m hesitant at first, but I just know you’re going to come up with something delicious!”
However, not everyone is a fan of the way she recycles her food, as she has been accused of being ‘dirty’.
Others find her ‘unhygienic’ for eating food straight from her children’s plates.
