It can be hard enough to find enough money for the six-week summer vacation.

But parents with money problems also face the prospect of having to buy gifts for their children’s teachers and teaching assistants at the end of the school year.

While some moms and dads go all out with their gifts, others look for budget-friendly ways to put together their gifts.

It’s no surprise then that one mother was praised for sharing her “cheap and cheerful thank you gifts”.

The woman went to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook to post a picture of the presents all wrapped and ready to send.

She wrote: “I bought a large pack of doughnuts from Asda and then individually wrapped them in nice bags for the teachers.

“And I also bought some for the staff room so everyone could share.”

To make the gifts even more fun, the clear plastic bags featured drawings of animals on the front – from rabbits to bears and cats.

She was immediately bombarded with questions about where she got the bags from.

To which she replied, “The bags came from Temu a while ago.

“I’ve been using them in my daughter’s nursery lunch box for the past few months… but I think you can get them on Amazon too.”

Other people in the comments praised the mother for sharing her gift tip. One wrote: “Nice idea!”

“Smart idea, keeps costs down,” added another.

“Awesome! Thanks for sharing,” a third commented.

“Fantastic idea, not something you just throw in the closet and forget about,” said someone else.

“I’m going for edibles too!” said another.

“I’m going to make red cupcakes with thank you notes on them.”

“Great idea. I love this!” said someone else.

They then added: “People should not feel pressured to buy expensive gifts, to conform or to conform to the other parents…

“My friend is a teacher and he feels embarrassed when he receives presents.

“They would be happy with a handwritten thank you note.

“Maybe it’s time to scale all this back?”

Need to buy a gift for a teacher?

IF you’re wondering whether to get your child’s teacher an end of year gift, look no further…

With the summer holidays fast approaching, Sarah Bull, Senior Digital Writer at Fabulous and mother of two, explains whether you should feel obliged to buy your children’s teachers a gift to celebrate the end of the school year.

Sarah said: “It can be quite a challenge to keep the children entertained during the six weeks they are out of school.

But before the school year is over, parents across the country are also trying to budget for gifts for their children’s teachers.

“When you have to buy in teachers, teaching assistants, special educational needs specialists and other beloved staff members, it can be an expensive proposition.

“And while many schools actively discourage parents from spending their money on end-of-year gifts for teachers, I consider it an obligation.

“I know how difficult my children can be at home and their teachers have to watch them most of the day. Don’t they deserve some appreciation?

“I also don’t want my children to feel left out when their friends arrive at school with presents for their teachers.

“While some parents go all out with gifts, with alcohol and flowers being popular choices, I will do my best to stick to the £5 for each of the four staff members I buy something for.

“And with some fantastic options in stores like Poundland, Home Bargains and B&M, it should be easy for me to stay within my budget.”

And the mom’s donut idea even got the approval of the teachers themselves.

“I think this is a great idea!! As a school staff member this would make me so happy!!” wrote one person.

As another added: “Perfect gift, coming from someone who works in a school!”

At Asda you can buy a pack of 12 iced donuts for £3.45, while similar bags at Temu cost £1.29 for 50.

So you can make 12 donut gift bags for just 26p each.
