Scarlett explained that her six-year-old and one-year-old shared a room until their father came up with an idea to split the room in two so they each had their own space.

In a video On TikTok, Scarlett showed how he cleverly used a bunk bed to form the divider between the two ‘rooms’.

“He used the bunk bed that I think we bought online and he put some wainscoting on it, filled in all the holes, sanded it, painted it and made it look really nice – almost like it was a wall dividing the two girls’ bedrooms.”

Scarlett showed the first side of the room, which featured a bottom bunk for her youngest, with the top half of the bed finished with paneling on one side.

On that side there was also room for a tall chest of drawers.

The kids love their new rooms!

At the foot of the bed was a door that led to the other side of the room, where they had placed a wardrobe, drawers and a dressing table.

“She sleeps upstairs and still has her own privacy because the two bedrooms are completely separate,” Scarlett said.

“We are so happy with it and she is very happy with it.

“It’s no different than a mountain shed, I think.”

The side for her eldest daughter also had the advantage of a large window.

“I just wanted to show you guys what my husband has been up to,” Scarlett added in the video’s caption.

I live in social housing and gave my son’s room a makeover for £60… the nicotine walls were transformed with a £15 purchase from B&Q

“He managed to cleverly separate the bedrooms of the 1 and 6 year old girls using a bunk bed.

“And I’m IN LOVE!”

She added that the children “love their new rooms too,” but that the one-year-old’s side “isn’t finished yet” and she still sleeps in a crib in her parents’ bedroom.

However, the comments section was almost immediately filled with trolls giving their opinions on the new rooms.

“If I were the youngest daughter, there would be a fight,” one person wrote.

“She’s in the hallway to the eldest daughter’s bedroom. No.”

“No, because why is one so beautifully decorated and the other looks like a storage room under the stairs?” asked another.

“It doesn’t even look like a bedroom!”

“My youngest daughter’s bedroom is reminiscent of Harry Potter. There is no wardrobe or desk, like the eldest’s,” said a third.

Bedtime Tips for Moms

IF YOU’RE tired of your toddler not wanting to go to bed, read on.

A child health expert has revealed five steps you should take to calm your child so he or she can sleep well.

Dr. Kaylene henderson spoke with Nine Honey about what to do when your toddler just won’t sleep at night.

Every child is different and needs different amounts of sleep depending on their age. With these simple tips, you can make parents’ evenings a lot easier.

Just like adults, children need enough time to unwind before going to bed.

For example, make sure they have enough time to relax after a busy day.

The expert advises giving toddlers one to two hours to go to bed.

And it’s just as important that parents take time to relax and be more present so that toddlers feel calmer.

Dr. Henderson explains: “After all, our children are barometers of the tensions in the family.

“If we want our children to calm down, we have to make an effort to shut ourselves off — from our phones, our work emails, and the many other distractions that compete for our attention.”

We’ve all heard that we should turn off our screens before going to sleep because blue light stops our brains from producing melatonin, our body’s sleep hormone.

Therefore, the expert advises turning off the device 60 to 90 minutes before bedtime so that children can sleep well.

According to the expert, music and meditation can also help your child fall asleep.

She adds that slow music, with a rhythm of about 60 beats per minute, can improve breathing, heart rate and brain waves and relax muscles.

“There are also beautiful guided meditations that are specifically designed to help young children fall asleep at night.

“Headspace for Kids has a special section on sleep, tailored to three age groups: five and under, six to eight, and nine to 12. You can try it for free,” she adds.

Finally, Dr. Henderson recommends maintaining a consistent routine each night to help your toddler fall asleep easily.

When children know what to expect each evening, they can relax more easily and, of course, fall asleep more easily.

One of the best ways to do this is to tell a bedtime story.

She adds: “Remember, the goal is to get our little ones used to sleep, so bedtime stories are the perfect tool, in the perfect place, to do that.”

To which Scarlett hilariously replied: “My one year old daughter does have a wardrobe, but when I asked her if she wanted a desk to write on, she said no… strange for a one year old to say no, I think.

“Baby Potter likes to be stubborn!”

Scarlett also revealed in the comments that the room sharing was a ‘temporary’ solution as they would be moving out by the time their youngest was two and a half years old.

“It’s Harry Potter,” sighed someone else.

“Growing up, I had a bedroom with no windows. It was so depressing,” wrote another.

While someone else noted: “My family did this to my room when I was young. I was the youngest and I really hated my older sister. It felt like I was an outsider.

“I had no window, it was horrible.”

“One has natural light, the second has a Harry Potter-style room,” agreed another.

Others defended Scarlett and her husband, insisting they had made fantastic use of the space they had.

“This looks amazing and it is! The comments are ridiculous,” one person wrote.

“It’s about their own space, not about size.”

“You did a great job.. you gave them their own private space… WELL DONE…” agreed another.

“There are so many negative comments from other mums, it’s unbelievable,” said a third.

“Well done, it looks fantastic – better than what many children sleep in.

“As long as your girls are happy, that’s the most important thing!”

“I’m shocked by some of these comments! But thank you,” Scarlett replied.

“Oh my god the negative messages it’s amazing!” wrote someone else.

“I think it’s great, you’re all happy, that’s all that matters, well done dad!”

“That’s a great idea! So well thought out and clever,” said another.

“Two very happy children with such beautiful rooms.”

While someone else praised the parents, saying: “This is brilliant. I love how people are so clever with space these days.”
