Monster Hunter Outlanders brings big beast hunting to mobile gaming
As Capcom prepares the release of Monster Hunter Wilds, the next mainline game in the series, there’s a new one on the way for phone gaming fans. Monster Hunter Outlanders is a new mobile title in which players must take down gigantic beasts in a large open world.
Monster Hunter Outlanders is the latest in a recent trend of games from popular console and PC franchises making the jump to mobile gaming. Although the announcement of the new title only contains a trailer, the developer, TiMi Studio Group, has the qualities to realize its ambition, having previously released the shooter Call of Duty Mobile, MOBA Pokemon Unite and the recently released strategy Age of Empires Mobile made.
Outlanders will feature the same core gameplay of the franchise: hunting and defeating enormous monsters of varying sizes, alone or in groups of up to four. There are tools and items to craft, world events, and community and social features you’d expect from a mobile game.
From the looks of the trailer, you can still equip your fighter with bizarre armor, wrestle through areas (and launch yourself from a ballista and float around), and visit different biomes of jungle, desert, and mountainous areas. While TiMi hasn’t announced which of the series’ signature weapons will be usable in the game, characters can be seen wielding a massive sword, a long katana-like blade, and a bow. There’s no palico in sight, but we do get a brief glimpse of a potential ape companion who looks adorable.
While there is no release date for Monster Hunter Outlanders yet, there will be playtests that will allow players to try out the new game before it launches. There is also one official disagreement become a member for those who want to stay up to date with the latest news, in addition to the usual range of social channels X (formerly Twitter) And Instagram.
Monster Hunter is a long-running franchise with games spanning multiple generations of consoles, but 2018’s Monster Hunter: World was a massive hit that brought the series to millions of players. We got the chance to play the next game in the main series Monster Hunter Wilds at Gamescom in August, with new features like a grappling hook and multi-weapon holding, ahead of its planned launch on February 28, 2025.
