Morning break-in: Brisbane mother forced to hide in bedroom with her young children during terrifying home invasion
A mother had to barricade her door to protect her young children as a gang of teenagers tried to break into her home.
Robyn Sinclair, who lives in Brisbane’s southern suburb of Morningside, hid in her bedroom with her husband and their two children, aged five and seven, under blankets as a group of youths tried to kick down the door early on Wednesday morning.
Police said the incident may be part of a three-day crime spree in south-east Queensland that has seen multiple home invasions and car thefts.
“They were coming through the house, shouting for keys, they were looking for our cars,” Mrs. Sinclair said Nine news.
‘My husband, my children and I were locked in our bedroom, leaning against the door to keep them from kicking it in.
‘So much force was used that the door frame was broken and the door handle was pulled out of the wall.’
The terrified family called 911 three times during the attack.
“We kept shouting at the intruders that the police were coming, hoping that would deter them,” Mrs Sinclair recalled.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia that ‘shortly after 1.30am unknown offenders gained entry to a house and attempted to retrieve car keys’
It only spurred them on.
“It’s sad that we feel like we have to go on the highest state of alert.”

Doug Newnham, Mrs Sinclair’s husband, said he saw the “shadow of a knife” when he was confronted in the hallway by a group of masked teenagers.
“It’s scary today. It’s going to be scary tomorrow, it’s going to be scary for a while, I think,” he told the Cairns message.
“I wouldn’t have cared if they robbed us blind, as long as everyone was safe.”
“My only question is, what if they had come through the door?”
His biggest concern was the possible long-term effect the horrific ordeal could have on his young children.

Queensland Police confirm they are investigating the latest incident.
“Shortly after 1.30am unknown offenders gained entry to a house and attempted to retrieve the car keys,” a spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
“A resident interrupted the incident and the perpetrators made threats, destroyed a wall and a door, after which they fled in an unknown vehicle,” the spokesperson said.
“No one was physically injured and no property was stolen.”
