- United Natural Foods confirms cyber attack
- It said that parts of his infrastructure were forced offline, and delays can occur

United Natural Foods, the largest wholesaler distributor in Noord -America, has confirmed that it has sustained a cyber attack that forced the parts of his IT infrastructure to pull offline.
In a new 8-K form submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the company said that it collaborated with cyber security experts from third parties to assess and reduce the damage.
The incident caused “temporary disruptions” for the business activities of United Natural Foods, it was further said because the company is working on assessing, reducing and remedying the incident with the help of third -party experts. The police were also informed of the attack.
Unknown perpetrators
“On June 5, 2025, United Natural Foods became aware of unauthorized activities on certain of his information technology (IT) systems,” the submission states.
“The company immediately activated its incidental response plan and implemented inclusion measures, including proactively taking certain systems offline, which has temporarily influenced the capacity of the company to execute and distribute customer orders.”
While other details were not shared, companies usually take systems offline when they have a ransomware Attack, because that is the best way to prevent extra devices from being coded. It also prevents the threat factors from exfiling the threat actors, which is nowadays the standard practice with ransomware attackers.
“The company continues to work to restore its systems to bring them online safely,” concludes the document. “The investigation to assess the impact and scope of the incident remains underway and is at an early stage.”
United Natural Foods is with headquarters in Providence, Rhode Island and supplies more than 30,000 store locations in the US and Canada and is the largest wholesale distributor of natural, organic and conventional supermarket products in North America, including the most important supplier for Amazon-Tieit Whole Foods.
No hacking groups have claimed the responsibility for this attack.
