And when it comes to education, the mother, whose children are five, four and two years old, prefers homeschooling and world-class education.

World Education is an educational method where families use the world as a classroom and learn by visiting different countries.

Mrs. Richardson is proud to travel the world with her children and believes it is a much better option than sending them to school.

However, she has noticed that her parenting style does not go down well with other parents.

She shared one of her experiences on TikTok when she explained how she raises her children.

Mrs Richardson subtitled it: “You won’t get arrested if you don’t send your kids to school

“Once you unregister your children, you can do whatever you want. You are “allowed”

“You do have a choice.”

The mother told the camera that she was going to get her nails done at her salon, while talking to another customer about taking the kids on the trip.

She explained that the client agreed with her because they were still young and it was best to “do it while they’re young, before they have to go to school.”

Mrs. Richardson then replied that she would not send her children to school.

She then spoke about the “horror” of the customers’ reactions when asked what she was going to do with her children.

People don’t know that you have a choice, and you do. You don’t have to send your kids to school.

The mother continued, “I thought, ‘Oh well, we’re going to homeschool them, and worldschool them. I’m not going to send them to school.'”

The mother was then asked if she was “allowed” to do so, to which she replied, “Yes, you are allowed to do so. Who is going to stop me?”

Mrs Richardson couldn’t believe the response she received and explained that there is a ‘crazy mentality’ when it comes to not sending children to school.

She wants to raise awareness that parents ‘have a choice’ and that ‘there is no need’ to send them to school.

She then explained that homeschooling is “actually the default option” and that “school is actually an option to choose for yourself.”

The mother concluded the story by saying, “The reactions were like, are you going to get arrested?

What are the laws about sending your children to school?

The Gov.uk website reads:

“You must ensure that your child receives full-time education that meets his/her needs (for example, if he/she has special educational needs). You can send your child to school or teach them yourself.

“Children should receive education from the school year after their 5th birthday until the last Friday in June of the school year in which they turn 16.

“You are being contacted by:

  • the school – if your child is registered at school and does not show up (even if only absent for one day)
  • the education officer of the municipality – if they think that your child is not receiving appropriate education at home

“You can be prosecuted if you don’t educate your child. Normally you get warnings and offers of help from the local council first.”

How do you deregister your child from school?

Homeschooling Website Twinkle states: “The official, legal procedure is to send a letter to the principal of your child’s school stating that you want the school to deregister your child.

“This letter is an important document, so it is a good idea to deliver it in person or send it by certified mail.”

However, there are other things that are required by law depending on where you are in the UK, specifically England, Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales, so it is wise to contact your local council first.

“People don’t know that you have a choice, and you do. You don’t have to send your kids to school.”

The video received a lot of attention and many people took to the comments to share their opinions.

“We are so conditioned that school is the only option! Scary,” said one TikTok user.

“The amount of people I hear this from is insane. The same people call schools all the time to complain about the quality of education, so many really don’t know this is even an option,” added another.

A third mother, who had done something similar, said: “I homeschooled him for a year and it was the best decision ever – I sent him back for GCSE years and it was tough but we managed. He’s successful now!”

“School is NOT THE ONLY CHOICE.” A fourth wrote: “Homeschooling is tough, but it’s definitely worth it.”
