Mrs Hinch fans reveal 8p hack to stop ‘awful’ damp smell when drying indoors
FANS of cleaning legend Mrs Hinch have revealed an 8p hack to stop clothes smelling damp.
In the cold winter months it can be difficult to find the best way to dry your laundry.
Drying laundry in a drying rack can take days and often leaves clothes smelling damp.
This can also lead to mold, but the alternative, using the dryer, can be very expensive.
In the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook group, one mother complained that every time she put her daughter’s school blazer in the washing machine, it came out smelling damp.
She said she had tried everything to remove the smell, from using scent boosters to Zoflora, but nothing had worked.

The mum revealed: “It’s literally the way it comes out of the washing machine.
‘It’s still warm. But it smells so moist. It’s horrible.
“It stresses me out because I don’t want her to go to school smelling like damp laundry.”
Facebook users rushed to the comments section of the post to share their advice and many people suggested the same.
One person said: “I would recommend using soda crystals to clean the washing machine.
“If clothes come out damp, I use soda crystals in an empty drum to clean the washing machine.
“My child’s uniform and clothes come out fresh and clean.”
A second person said: “I use soda crystals to clean the washing machine once a month if clothes start to smell damp after washing.”
A number of other users also swore by the tip, and you can buy soda crystals for the bargain price of just 80 cents – and use just a spoonful in your wash.
The mother thanked people for the helpful tip and said: “Wash on synthetic and tumble dry (again on synthetic).
“No fabric softener, just a drop of Zoflora.
“With every wash it smells less and less.
“Thanks everyone! Although I have to say…these horns are terrible.
‘Why would they be so difficult to wash? They’re sweaty, smelly teenagers.’
