M&S launches brand new underwear that will help THOUSANDS of women across the UK
WHEN it comes to underwear, M&S certainly know what they’re doing.
Last year, a whopping 60 million pairs of trousers were sold, with one in two Britons buying their underwear there, according to official figures from M&S.
For over 95 years, the trusted brand Marks & Sparks has always been on top of the latest trends. They play into trends and move with the times.
Nothing proved this better than the launch of their line of leak-proof ‘period pants’ in 2020.
They are now the market leader in this category, selling 6,000 packages per week over the past year.
But the brand is not resting on its laurels and is now venturing into new territory. Starting tomorrow, the brand will offer an underwear line specially designed for customers with ostomy bags.

In collaboration with the charity Colostomy UK, they have developed trousers that are both stylish and comfortable and also have space for one or more stoma bags.
Why do you need a stoma bag?
A colostomy is an operation on the large intestine.
In this procedure, one end of the large intestine is diverted through an opening in the abdomen, also called a stoma.
This means that the person can no longer defecate.
Instead, the stool is collected in a stoma bag, which is placed over the opening.
Many people have to have a colostomy because of illness.
These could be:
A stoma may also be necessary for genetic conditions, birth defects, after abdominal trauma and after radiotherapy.
With over 200,000 women living with a stoma in the UK, they clearly saw a gap in the market – and responded.
Soozie Jenkinson, head of lingerie design at M&S, said: “We’ve worked closely with Colostomy UK and women living with a stoma. By listening and responding to their needs, we’ve developed a range of briefs designed to provide comfort, support and confidence all day long.”
A quick Google search for ‘ostomy panties’ will reveal dull colours and a price tag of over £20 for a single pair from medical suppliers.
For comparison, M&S packs cost just £18 for three pairs of briefs.
And it’s not like you have to wear big Bridget Jones-style trousers because you have a stoma: the design is in line with M&S’s classic knicker shape, which accounts for a third of all knickers sold.
And they are also available in their Brazilian panties.
In terms of color options, they come in black and various shades of pink and nude.
They are also cleverly designed. Inside, the briefs have elastic at the pocket opening, which keeps the ostomy bag in place all day and night.
According to Libby Herbert, CEO of Colostomy UK, it is vital that M&S responds to the demand for this much-needed underwear.
“Accessible underwear options for people with stomas means they can shop on the UK High Street with confidence and ease for the first time,” she says.
Also available in the ostomy friendly underwear range are the High Leg and Brazilian styles with lace designs. A pack of three costs £20.
And they’ve also designed underwear to match their best-selling bra styles.
Well done M&S, this range has absolutely nothing to do with trousers, that’s for sure.
Why Everyone Loves M&S
Deputy fashion editor Abby McHale told Fabulous why M&S is the store of the moment. She explained:
“M&S has really done a great job this season, there are so many good products to be excited about.
“A brand once known for its ‘frumpy fashion’, although that idea has long since disappeared, it is now one of the leading high streets for women’s clothing.
“The handbag range in particular is super strong, with a 170% sales rate against plan, and many more designer dupes at a fraction of the price.
“The brand is also now #1 for style perceptions, up from #3 last year. This is due to a very strong design team that is focused on modernizing the brand, taking into account not only how the pieces look, but also how easy they are to wear.
“Price is also an important factor as you can get a lot of good quality pieces for under £30.
“Having given us a sneak peek at the upcoming collection, there are so many more amazing pieces to keep an eye out for in the coming months.
“Think leopard print dresses, colourful co-ords, embroidered boho jackets, plus lots of swimwear and great accessories, as well as great wardrobe pieces that will last year after year.”
